For any dentist (asking for myself too) that was a PGY1 hospital resident through a GPR in 2015, would I be paid as PGY-2 when going back to a hospital residency? Since I technically already was a PGY-1 in the past. Or will they not care and re-designate my pay at PGY-1 again because I’ve been out for the last 6 years.

Depends on the program, but 99% chance you'll be re-designated a PGY-1 just like everyone who matches out of a non-cat position, I only know of a few programs that honor your GPR or non-cat year when getting pay checks.

If your OS program is in New York, you'd most likely be a PGY-2 status if you've previously done a GPR. I have co-residents who are first years in their program but started at PGY-2 and PGY-3 salaries due to previous experiences in a hospital residency. DM me if you have questions

You'd be designated as a PGY-1. I am back into residency, finished 2 years of AEGD 3 years ago. Back to being PGY1. You could definitely ask the program and see what they say?
