PGY1 family med positions after the match?

Hi,

I am switching from OB/gyn to family medicine while in the middle of my second year. I have been looking for PGY2 positions, but I would be just as willing to go in as a PGY1. I’m assuming some PGY1 positions went unfilled and others may open as people can’t be hired. I’ve been looking on Find a Resident and Resident Swap (for open positions, not swaps), and there hasn’t been any PGY1 openings on either one. Is there another place I should be looking? Or is there just nothing open right now? Thanks!

Family med you likely will only get about 6 months credit if you are lucky from obgyn. I’d contact programs directly especially if your current program has one
