Is volunteer work/ or pharm tech experience normal for undergrads applying to pharmacy school?

Would it make sense to try to get a Pharm Tech Certification studying by myself because I am not about to attempt some sort of online program while doing a full courseload.

Or should I try and find some sort of position (internship, pharmacy aid that not required to be certified pharm tech) now before they fill up if they do.

I've also heard about internships and are those normally a summer thing and are those more for people actually in pharmacy school as opposed to undergrad?

I've looked through quite at few threads and not found any clear explanations anywhere or anywhere online.

Thanks for any replies.

Both volunteer work and pharmacy technician experience are good things to have on your application if you're applying. It shows a commitment to your field of study. You can easily get pharm tech work by filling out an online application for one of the big retailers in your area such as CVS or Walgreens. Their pharmacy managers are always looking to hire competent people, especially pre-pharmacy students. As far as pharmacy certification, it's nearly a must have if you want to work in a hospital setting. Invest in a good book, don't bother with a certification course, and sign up to take the exam in November if you haven't signed up already for September.

Pharmacy internships are for those already in pharmacy school.

However, you can gain experience as a tech, volunteer or cashier/clerk in a pharmacy.

A lot of pharmacies train on the job. Others want experience. Pharm Tech certification certainly wouldn't hurt when looking for a job, but I don't know how much it well help either.
