I was thinking that a B.S. in Pharmaceutical Sciencews would be an interesting major to pursue. I'm contemplating doing MD/PhD in pharmacology. I'm not interested in being pharmacist!

Is this major difficult to get a decent GPA for medical school?

I can't think of why this wouldn't be a good major to concentrate in, but I'm sure they're some downsides

I've never heard of that major, but I think it would be OK. If you're interested in the subject, you will likely do better in the classes = better GPA.

My school doesn't have this major, but look through possible required courses and ask people if any of them are GPA killers... Some potential ones that come to mind would be pchem, pchem lab, synthetic chem, advanced ochem, advanced inorganic chem, chem stat, spectroscopy and analytical chem (all of which are really interesting but not exactly easy courses)

This would certainly be a great field to pursue. As I'm sure you've been told, the major you choose is not important for med school. What is important is that you do well, and as the poster above said, the more interesting you find the subject, the better you will do. So go for Pharmaceutical Sciences if you.

Now in terms of the difficulty, that will all depend on what classes are required and what your particular strengths are. Is biology a hard major? Well that all depends on how good at biology you are. But if it is something you are interested in, you should do fine. You should also be able to handle an undegrad pharmaceutical sciences degree if you are considering apply MD/PhD in pharmacology.

The schools that usually offer such a program are usually pharmacy schools. It will be more research focus than a PharmD which is more clinical in nature - an excellent way to strengthen yourself for your MD/PhD or just an MD.
