I didn't think there were contract jobs for pharmacists in Iraq or Afghanistan due to mail order. Has anyone done one of these or know of a pharmacist working as a contractor? Impressive salary especially since it's potentially tax free.

Job location: Baghdad Iraq
The normal workweek is 72-hours or 12-hour days/6-days/week.

With those hours I'd need a lot more than 250,00. They are basically paying you a normal hourly rate (regular rate + overtime rate) to work 72 hours a week in a warzone

At 250,000 a year it works out to 55$/hour base rate if the remaining 32 hours each week are paying as 1.5x base rate

Averaging ~$66/hr without tax is outstanding for a pharmacist. Pay off your student loans in a single year.

Holy ****, good catch. 👍

There is no way that is safe in the long run (setting aside the obvious "it's a warzone" part). 72 hours a week for a year?! 😱😕

So I guess Iraq is the new Alaska?

I'll just work 40 hours weeks and pay off my loans in 4 years while not working in probably one of the least safe environment in world.

The thought of 72 hours weeks for a year (tax free or not) would probably send me running off into the closest minefield. Not to mention all the horror stories coming from abused contractors over there

meh it's hospital pharmacy. If it's more order entry based, it hopefully won't be nearly as physically demanding as retail here in the states. We're not meant to fall in love with overseas contract jobs, although some of my family members have been contractors in Afghanistan, Iraq and Colombia for 6+ years. You'd work your butt off, make $$ and leave (or fall in love with the money and the contract renewal bonus).

You can trade your igloo for a tent behind a mound of dirt.

Maybe, it's time for you to apply for the job instead of posting here and increasing your competition?

If it wasn't for the 6 years experience required, I'd do it. I speak some Arabic, understand the customs, and I'll blend right in with the general population.

You should apply, they might want someone with your background. 👍

What an upgrade! So what do I get in place of a snowmobile?

If this was really tax-free (probably not) and I was single and only 6 month or 1 year committment, I'd totally consider this; just give me an M4, body armor, a nice conex with AC, and an internet connection and I'm good. Probably get to hook up a ton too...all the nurses/MDs are probably like YOLO anyways.

6+ years of experience though...obviously needed since it's probably a small facility with probably no other pharmacists, but that puts the potential hires in the over 30 range...not sure how many people there are that would be willing to do this. Good for a quarter-life crisis change of pace though.

love this part of the description

" A key role is ensuring the security of prescription drugs and pharmaceuticals and control of the pharmacy inventory. "

show me the guns!!!!!!!!!!

Been there, done that...not too exciting. However, this job is much higher paying than what I get for wearing the uniform...
