I have a quick question. My cousin, who is a first year in pharmacy school is coming to visit this weekend for my sister's graduation. I have a pretty strong love hate relationship with them, and they are about as arrogant as can be. My question is, how do I gently put it that I'm better than them. I have a bunch of family coming as well, and I need to establish dominance with my entire family. Do I just outright roast their lack of medical expertise? Do I grill them with UWorld questions and see if they can even get one correct? Or do I play the long game and allow them to hate their career in about fifteen years and wish they went to medical school? My entire extended family is pharm, and they act the same way. Like they're doctors who can actually do something. I don't want to make them cry, just establish a rightful pecking order.

P.S. don't get me wrong I love pharmacists and nurses and therapists and everyone else, I just want my cousin to be put in their place.

Poor trolling.

If you were smart, you would put this in the pharm section of the forum.

Why do they let douchers like you into med school?

Jesus.

Not trolling. I legitimately need advice. I pick them up tomorrow morning. I probably shouldn't have procrastinated on asking this question🙂
You really feel the need to set up a family pecking order? That is the most petty and immature thing I've heard on here. Who honestly cares whos better. Grow up and realize life ain't one big pissing contest kid

Yes, I am such a giant **** that I would post this on a public forum. No, I'm clearly being sarcastic and hoping some people would get a laugh. This is why we can't have nice things

"Not trolling. Legitimately need advice" But regardless gotta make it funnier if you wanna get laughs

But seriously, how do you guys respond to people in other professions (nursing, pharmacy, podiatry, dentistry, or whatever) who say stuff like "I'm as much of a doctor as you are." or "I know as much as you do." or "we have to learn just as much stuff as you guys (while they watch tv every night, sleep early, and you almost never see them studying)"?

Having been working in the medical field for 9 years, I've discovered huge egos looking for validation at all education levels running rampant. How do you respond to these people? You simply don't. While yes it's frustrating to hear assasine nonsense, it's better to learn to ignore them than engage them. You'll live a happier life for it. Just my thoughts.

To OP: Awful troll. Just awful. You can't pretend and then when someone finally takes the bait break character because you were critized. Come on now.

What dental school is this? Sounds like I got a raw deal. I'm going to UConn, where we do medical school for preclinical years simultaneously with hand skills/dental specific classes. I did interview at one school with as few as 32 credit hours, though. Maybe that's the TV watching crowd.

OP committed to trolling for less than 20 minutes and gave up because people thought what he was fake-planning was petty?

On one hand, I’m glad to know this was trolling and not someone soliciting real advice. On the other hand, this wasn’t even entertaining. F for effort.
They don't make them like @failedatlife anymore 🙁🙁🙁

I never said whoever said that was a dental student. But, thanks, you are part of the problem that I stated.

Whether you intended it that way or not, that's how it came out. While I can't read your mind, I can certainly read your original post. Not my fault you listed dentistry among the groups in need of a good humbling.

As far as the problem you reference, presumably that of egos running amok, who is the one low-key agreeing with the OP re: the need to "put people in their place"?

I know OP is trollin' but I figured I would share a story that goes along with OP's request. A friend of mine is a third year pharmacy student, and he volunteered at a random health clinic along with nursing students, medical students, etc... Apparently one of the medical students wanted to assert some dominance and walked over and asked "So... we are going to be real doctors and stuff, but tell me again, what do you guys do?" OP, you can pull something like this, but I think @AnatomyGrey12 method is best.

I pray one of my classmates pulls this next time we are amongst other health professionals so I can rip them a new one.

I get it.

We are gonna be docs and are looked as leaders.... and we need to act like one.

Heavy is the head that wears the crown.

Ya feel me?

I think that the best comeback might have been "we make sure the patients don't get killed by your wrong 'scrip".

I pray one of my classmates pulls this next time we are amongst other health professionals so I can rip them a new one.

There have been plenty of times when I was paged up from sleep to admit someone at 3:30 in the morning and a pharmacist caught a drowsiness induced med-rec error, or something I forgot to dose renally etc.

They have important jobs, and they’ll save your ass if you need them to.

My mother used to tell it to me like this, "Arrogance is just a confident form of stupidity. Eventually when they trip over it (referring to stupidity/arrogance?), no one is willing to help break their fall."
