will never get better as long as moms want to spend more time kids.

Screw the Labor Stat and Studies. I've been trying to staff hospital pharmacies for the past 5 years... and as long as pharmacy schools crank out female pharmacists who marry up and end up entering part time work pool or not work at all, we'll never see the end of pharmacist shortage.

Good for you kids looking for jobs... tough for me to effectively run a hospital pharmacy department.

I would hope society would rather have well raised children who contribute to society over a pharmacist shortage. Besides I like the Pharmacist shortage. 👍

People in this country are too fixated on working as much as they can over spending time with their family and enjoying themselves/vacations. I hope that changes.

Eh... my wife is a stay home mom....and I like it that way.

I don't mind the pharmacist shortage as much as I like to complain about it.

You could always raise the salaries for pharmacists. That should attract some to your hospital. 😀

There are women out there who NEVER plan to have children...like me. I know people like this are few and far between, but I never plan to be anything but full time. I am like a fish out of water in my pharmacy class, though...all the other women in my class are dying to pro-create. They do not have baby fever...they have baby obsession. I will never understand them and they will never understand me... 🙁

I graduate next december and don't have a vagina, hire me.

If you can hang with the conservative environment of Texas and also put up with 25 females in the pharmacy department.. c'mon down.

Of course I'm not hiring you based on age, sex, religion, sexual orientation, hair color, race, political affiliation, your choice in music, food, favoritie football team, and whatever ...

I am actually SERIOUSLY thinking of Texas. I visited Austin not too long ago and loved it. I might consider Atlanta, Nashville, and Vegas, too. I'm all about leaving West Va. It's all cows and no anything else. The wife doesn't graduate until 2009, though, so it will be a while. 🙁

Austin and the Hill Country of Texas is Awesome... but you'll get sick of the Burnt Orange Longhorn crap.... Houston is too hot and humid and the property tax is higher...

Dallas affords you a metroplex where you can find everything and anything...easy to travel in and out of..and great great school and road system along with phenomenal zoning plans..

Here are my priorities:

1) NO F*CKING SNOW.
2) Stuff to do at 2AM
3) Low cost of living
4) A town that can give 2 people 7-on-7-off

You and your wife can work the alternating weeks... you'll never see her :meanie:

I know our organization can take both you guys for 7 on and 7 off..
And you should buy one of these houses for below $300K..

That's pretty decent for a town not surrounded by the aforementioned cows. When was the last time it snowed?

Don't get me wrong... there are cows... and tasty ones. Ft Worth is called the cowtown because of its' cattle trades.

It snowed about last year... but it falls..melts..and that's it. I don't recall the past winter.. I remember playing a lot of golf past winter so must not have been cold...

Ok, snow itself isn't intrinsically bad, it's just the whole spending 45 minutes getting your car ready to travel at 7:15AM that pisses me off. If it doesn't stick, I guess it's ok. Is there a giant golden buddha statue off of the interstate like in Austin?

I'm not sure...I stay awy from Austin... an Aggie/Trojan doesn't belong in Austin.

Chicks in Austin don't like trojans? Ewwww. They must all have diseases. Just say no to herpes. I made a shirt that had a picture of WV and texas I wore around when I visited:

WV > Texas

I got so much **** for that. Numerous threat of bodily harm. It was hilarious. Are people in Dallas that insane?

Dallas aint like Austin. Then again, Dallas isn't as pretty as Austin either.. but it's aight.

Translation: Less gorgeous coeds.

oh man... where do you think coeds from Austin and College Station go when they finish? They go up to Dallas and join the coeds from SMU, TCU, UT Arlington...UTD, UNT....

Other than Scottsdale, you'll see more beautiful people in Texas than anywhere else...

LOL!!!

Houston's not that bad. Katy, Cypress, The Woodlands, and Sugar Land are nice places to live.

Yo, Azith, you have any idea what Texas' pharmacy laws are in respect to reciprocation? Is it just pass the Texas law test and you're done?

Just pass the Texas Law. Take the test..and you'll have your result in about a week.

Consider these when you're picking a location to live.

1. Major Trauma Center nearby?
2. Hospitals with Internventional Cath Lab nearby?
3. Ease of travel in and out.

No. If that's the case than Morgantown is the greatest place on Earth to live. There is no traffic anywhere and it's one of, like, 16 places in the country with a level I peds and adult trauma center.

Yeah... but can you fly non-stop to everywhere?

you can actually do a search and get lists of "best place in America to live". The closest to you that is almost always top 5 or 10 is Asheville, NC. Good cost of living index and perfect geography for your criteria.

You've done it now, Z. The old lady found out there is a "Mac Pro" store in Dallas. Apparently getting cosmetics there is some sort of big deal and she's all like, "OH, OH, I WANNA MOVE THERE!!" I guess it's like finding out a town has a Dave and Buster's or PF Changs. I guess that's one of the things she wants out of a town. Who knew? Some of the Northern suburbs sound kinda nice and growing. Where is the pharmacy you run, anyway?

Not only do we have D&B and PF Chang's... we have several of them.. 👍

Check your PM.

No State Income Tax... for 2 pharmacist household can be significant.

Of course property tax is high...but half of it goes to school system.

4 out Top 18 high schools in the US are from Dallas Area.. and they are all public schools.

Heck... your kids may end up going to university of texas..

Dallas/Ft.Worth area did not see a real-estate bubble. Still very reasonable.

After I got done cleaning up my saliva off the keyboard I decided it would be prudent to ask you:

Where is this place? I need details!
And, if you have any knowledge on the matter is this location accepting to canadian pharmacists? I swear I build the most pristine igloos in less than a day, can fry bacon faster than a redneck and will repeatedly say EH much to amusement of the staff, and chagrin to my character.

Those are all suburbs of Dallas..and still growing.

Go to www.realtor.com and put those cities in do some housing search.

Any idea on the requirements for licensure in Texas? Like X # of internship hours, or just write an exam, etc.

I assume a pharmacist is in the usual 90-100K salary range.

It's just I've heard great things about that place, from the girls to food, etc.

I'm not sure about the Canadian Pharmacist....?

If you're licensed in the US...then I'm sure you just have to take the Law Exam.. but I'm not sure.

Hospitals salary is all over the board.. $43 to $50 per hour base. But hospitals have differentials..for evenings and weekends.

Retails is paying $50+ per hour. The rumor is it's going up to $55 per hour.

Yes, it's true. Dallas has beautiful people.. second only to Scottsdale.
And endless restaurants...

Z should run for mayor of Dallas. He can pimp a town like Hefner sells Playboys.
How many HDTV channels are then in the big D? I only get about 5 here in poduntville, WV.

Dood,

Dallas is the first city in the US to get Verizon Fiber Optic TV. I just got it last Thursday... It's allsome.
