A month ago, there were 7.5k jobs. The month before that, there were 8k plus. Now it is less than 6.3k. Just though you guys might be interested.

Could it be because people who just graduated in spring are working as pharmacists? Could that be the reason why the are fewer jobs posting?

Probably more due to the economy and pharmacists delaying retirement or coming back into the work force because their 401k took a hit.

Either way, alarming on how it went from 8k to less than 6.3k.

Don't try to think too hard. Most of the times, the answers are in front of your face. The drop in job posting is most likely due to the fact that pharmacy students graduate in late spring and start working as a pharmacist in fall. Therefore, there are fewer job posting. Makes perfect sense to me.

If you still believe pharmacists who make $100,000+ a year need to continue working when they are 65 yr old then that is fine but lets see you post some facts to back up your claim.

Those pharmacists have not been making that kind of salary for the bulk of their working years though.

So if granny the poor pharmacist needs to come back to work, then I would expect to see more grannies pushing supermarket carts, paving the roads and giving good massages so they can afford their osteoporosis meds.

As a two year residency trained Clinical Druggist, I am looking at 90+ distinct job offers nationwide, if anyone is interested.

You think this guy has job security?:

As werid as it sounds, that was the life I want to live. I learned a lot from my ROTC program (considering I grew up in a city) and always had an interest in public/military health research.

Too bad right now, I am focused on retail and once i get the captial, independent pharmacy.

As of current, the site now has 5.6k jobs, down from 8k a few months ago, and 6.5k a few weeks ago.

You are again misrepresenting the basic facts:

(1) As of Nov. 20, 2008, there are 6,183 pharmacy jobs and pharmaceutical industry jobs.

(2) The number of available positions on this one website does not only include pharmacy but also pharmaceutical industry positions. The pharmaceutical industry has been hurting and they have been slashing jobs left and right.

(3) Businesses have to pay to advertise on this website. Could it be that bussinesses are cutting back in advertisement during a down economy?

Is pharmacy hurting in a down economy? Sure but before you predict doom and groom, let's just calm down. There are still thousands of positions not yet filled. You should feel lucky that you are still making a six digit salary while people are being fired left and right.

I posted this comment in another thread:

I decided to bring this thread back. I posted this in 2008. I was wrong. 2008 was actually the turning point. 😱

You were right. It is just funny when I read these 4 year old posts. I was naive but I was also in denial.

I received four offers while I was a 4th level but I was determined not to do retail. I turned all of them down. 6 months later, the market collapsed and the jobs dried up. Thank god, I found a job I like. My first and still my only pharmacist job.
