About the same as a pharmacist...unless you work at a verrry verrrrrry busy store then maybe a little bit more.

From my experience pharmacy managers make $10,000-$15,000 more than staff pharmacists. This difference is dependent on how many years you have been with the company and what your current salary is. Being at a busy store can also be an added advantage since most receive bonuses based on inventory control and script count.

Pharmacy manager is a stepping stone to DS = District Manager or pharmacy director positions

I heard Pharmacy District Managers make a lot more than a pharmacy supervisor. They get a company car and have their own company related expenses all paid for.

Like any profession, the particular salary will depend on many other factors:
(example: Location, the employer/business, the economy, your experiences and abilities, and etc...)

They also work 50 to 60 hours per week

Thats the easy part. I heard they have to deal with a TON of customer COMPLIANTS. Can you imagine having to hear some trashy customer b*tching you out everyday? 🙄
I think mail order is the best way to go. 👍

that's a light week.

from what i've seen, it's not worth it. The company owns your life.

Ugh, you definitely don't want to be a pharmacy manager. They only make about $15,000 more than a regular pharmacist, and they are held responsible for EVERYTHING that happens in the pharmacy (income, customer complaints, etc.). It's just not worth it, IMO.

Mail order is definitely not the best way to go, pretty much an absolute waste of an education.

but if you can handle it, there's no reason not to, or if you hire a good set of staff.

if i get to be pharmacy manager, and i deal with some of the techs i've seen (lazy asses who don't do ****), i would do my "apprentice" ordeal (anyone remember that show) and say "tech, you're not doing your job, you're bringing everyone down, and you're making too many mistakes, you're fired'

I have to disagree my friend. I work as a tech in mail order. 30 scripts an hour. i sit at a desk with my ipod on. The scripts come to me. on my computer. Did i mention we have a chef.

5 to 15k more initially - this number can change with time. It is typically not a very sought after job - I have seen 2nd year pharmacists as managers (while there are much more senior pharmacists in the store).

Quoted for truth...

Yes, that's the definition of "waste of education"

Like I said, a waste of an education. It is likely that mail order techs will be replaced by computer.

Does the company ever pressure you to pump more and more scripts in less time?

It's not really a waste of an education if he has found a way to make the same money and do less work....

Also, one of my best friends is a pharmacy manager at Walgreen's and he doesn't end up working that many more hours/week than a staff pharmacist...and he does make about 15k more than the others...and he likes it, so it's really just a personal inclination whether or not it's "better" than a staff position
Me, I have no desire to be middle management.

Everyone's goal is to work LESS, have LESS responsibility, for MORE money. If you denied this you are obviously lying. If I can work Mail Order I will be very happy I would LOVE to just verifed and type scripts all day, why would anyone want to deal with idiots everyday?

***Excuse me, do you know where the toliet paper is at??? NO, LEAVE ME THE HELL ALONE!!!***

Hahahahaha... NO.

If you hate patients, customers, and people in general so much, perhaps pharmacy is not a good plan for you. I've worked in a lot of different jobs that require extensive interaction with customers or other strangers, and while some of them can be annoying, seeing them ALL as idiots is a terrible attitude to have, not only at work, but in life.

I am not going to pharmacy school so that I can make as much money with as little effort as possible, and I sure as hell hope that my peers are not doing that either. Yes, the money is a nice perk, especially in the sense of paying off college debt, but I actually happen to LIKE working with people and having responsibility is a big part of the definition of being a pharmacist.

I hope people like you do go into mail order so that I don't have to deal with miserable coworkers who bitch about everything.
