I wanted to know what happens if you don't get an on site interview i.e. don't make first cuts. I know that you apply, get an onsite interview, go there, then rank the site. If you don't match you get a list of programs that did not match and are open for direct application. What happpens if you don't get the onsite interview from any of your places, now you have nothing to rank. So how are you able to see the list of residency programs that are available for direct contact? 😱

You would have to wait until the match to see the available residencies. Like you said if you don't get an interview then you won't have anything to match and nor would they know enough about you to match. In that case you wait until the match is over and see what's still available, then you contact the sites you're interested in based on what's still available. Good luck.
