OK, so a while back before I understood what courses were required for pharmacy school, my counselor signed me up for remedial science courses. Between the lab and lectures, i got and A, 2 B's, and a C. Those are showing up now under the science GPA. Obviously they are science courses but I thought they would only use ones required for majors.

ummm yeah, thats obvious, considering i had to enter ALL of my courses and send every transcript, regardless of when or where they were taken. I am referring to the fact that I thought when people say what their science gpa is, they are talking about courses that transfer(ie Chemistry I, Biology I, Human A&P I), not classes like Intro Chemistry, or Chemistry and Life or whatever it was called, Chemistry107 and Chemistry131 respectively.

Well, they do include them, just just like include all the upper division science courses into your science GPA that are way outside the scope of pre-reqs. I am sorry, but it is kind of like your own fault for not taking the remedial classes seriously. It's not like you can do much about it now.

that's quite immature for you to just assume i didn't try. in my post i never brought up anything about the grades specifically, you chose to insult me. The teacher I had for one of the B's and the C(lab and lecture) NEVER gives A's. The other class I received the B in lab because he rounds down, 90 is a B, not an A. Think before you just go assuming someone didnt try.

where in my post did you see insults ? 😱 I love how by merely expressing my opinion I get called rude and immature right away.


Second of all, what is it exactly you are asking ? 😕 Yes, they do include them, yes, they are factored into your GPA, what is it exactly you are asking again ? 😕


Third - I have never tried to insult you. You grades are the result of your direct actions, just like mine are the result of my actions. I am merely amused at how people always blame their professors for their grades. I love how somehow everybody is always stuck taking professors who never give out As or who don't curve enough, and the rest of us are just enjoying the ride.

Isn't pharmcas the one that calculates your overall and your science GPA for you, and you just merely put the classes in ? If the pharmcas already calculated your GPA and those remedial classes show up under your science GPA, then obviously, pharmcas considers them under science GPA.

I wasn't sure what people were using because some schools have papers you fill out with just their requirements, and you list them and put down the grades you got. So i wasn't sure if people were using their pre-req science gpa or just science gpa in general. I thought it was pre-req since that's what they mostly care about.

I only applied once for the record and when I have last year, I just entered all my classes in, classified them into categories and the science GPA was calculated.

All science classes were included into science GPA and I took way more than just basic pre-reqs.

I mean when someone posts on here with their "science GPA", are they using the pharmcas science gpa? or are they using the "pre-req GPA" plus any other UPPER level courses? Make sense?

This is of course assuming they took a class like chemistry 107 or chemistry 130 which aren't transferrable or required for anything to do with pharmacy.

Your answer 1 kinda answers my question. i was never sure what science courses people were including when they were giving their science GPA. Cheburashka didn't give me an answer originally, she just implied I was giving my professors a bad rap for my grades. I never said anything bad about them or the grades. My question was based off of what science GPA people are posting. THEY are being ambiguous when they just say their science GPA is such and such number. They could be saying it's all coursees required for a BS or they could be speaking of the courses that are just required for a specific school. and that was my question.

And i dont have a problem with how pharmcas calculates my science gpa. I dont have a question for them. I am asking what people mean by their science gpa. like i said above. They are either speaking of the basic 30 credits required or they might be referring to their intro classes, the basic 30, plus an additional 30 or whatever used for their BS degree.
