do you have to pay the pharmCAS fee ($140 plus $40 for each additional school) and then pay the school fee (my school is $75)? if so, that is an awfully large amount of money for any college student to have to pay. i hope it is just the pharmCAS fee, help please.

You pay the PharmCAS fee and then you pay any supplemental fees required by the schools. It is a lot, yes. There were some PharmCAS fee waivers but I think they're all gone now. You can try appealing to the individual schools for supplemental waivers but I don't know if many or any do that.

Don't worry, application fees are nothing; if you get interviews then you have to pay for transportation, hotel, suit, etc... 🙂

I completely understand your point of view - it is a lot of money for a college student to pay. Regardless of the cost(s), in the long run it really amounts to a fleeting, trivial expense. The P.Cas fees, supplementals, hotel, suits, shoes, $10 haircut... will land you an education and license which will carry you for the rest of your life. *knock*

You will learn a lot about yourself at the end of the application and interviewing process. The word "sacrifice" will have new meaning to you in about a year. All in all, it's a life experience you'll never forget. This is just the beginning...

I'm gonna agree with ExpressMail on this one. Sacrificing and managing your finances may seem Herculean (at best), but at the end of the day it's a huge learning experience that each one of us has gone through.

If you're looking for financial assistance to cover some of the initial fees, I swear that PharmCAS has something on their website with a deadline coming up... but a Google search could probably hook you up, too.

thanks guys.
yea i understand that as a pharmacist you can easily pay these debts off, but at the same time, my grades are so borderline that if i go out and try to apply to 4 or 5 schools and then get denied then i will be SOL. if each school was $75 dollars then the pharmCAS plus school fee for 4 schools is $560. now if i got in, then i could care less about the 560, but to get denied and lose that much money will be a shot to the heart/wallet.
