PharmCAS

It shows up on my transcript, but I am not using any of the AP credits for any pre-pharm pre-reqs. I'm confused on whether or not I would still have to send these bad boys into pharmCAS or pharm schools

I would contact the schools directly on their policy. I have for a few and they all have different opinions on how to handle the AP scores. Basically you need to put them into PharmCAS, but whether or not you have to send a score report depends on the school. PharmCAS does not accept AP score reports.

I had a Revised in my PharmCAS application because they made a mistake with one of my course grades. Thus, they sent out a "revised"/updated application to my designated schools.

nope, you can only update grades. you can mention new ECs/jobs/whatever in your supplemental essays though

😕Do you know how long does it take for them to update it?. Two of my letters were sent last week, I called today and they said there is nothing yet:scared:.Anyone with the same problem?🙁

You do realize today is only Tuesday, and depending on where you are, mail can take upwards of 5 or 6 days to reach it's destination. PharmCAS has a bajillion other pieces of mail to sort through too. It'll be okay.

pharmCAS transcript question

i had my school "hold my transcript to send when my summer session 2 classes are recorded"

should I have switched it to send it now, and then send it again later?

do I keep submitting transcripts with every update or just a final one before matriculation?

thanks everyone

pharmCAS said to write in the scores, but no need for AP score transcripts.

on a side note, I wish I didn't take that random college course back in high school! All that hassle for 1 class that didn't go towards pre-reqs!!

Does anyone know where to check mailing status?
It took a couple weeks for it to mail and show a mailing status on "pharmacy designations" after I submitted my PharmCAS application. So it was blank initially, however, if it has been blank for a long while (more than a 3-4 weeks). I would contact PharmCAS and ask them if there were any issues with the application.

If I am understanding your quesiton correctly, it is a matter of preference. I had my transcripts held until my summer grades were posted, mainly because I wanted the A's to calculate into my pharmcas gpa. However, the negative of this is that PharmCAS won't submit the application until all transcripts are received (because they dont calculate your gpa without them). At the end of the fall semester, PharmCAS allows you to send your fall 07 and summer 07 transcripts. However, at this point your gpa has already been calculated and sent out to your schools, of course they update it, but some rolling admissions schools already have sent out acceptances by that time. As I said, it is a matter of preference. Hope I answered your question.

Thanks for the response! I e-submitted 11Sep at night--and I check the stupid thing 2 times a day. It's still blank. My GPA hasn't even been calculated, yet. 🙁 I guess I'll give it a couple of more days...😀

what if i was lazy but suddenly became hard-working? how could i explain that?

I am a 4th year in college filling out my pharmcas. should/do i put my ap/ib scores from 5 years ago (in college) which transferred over as units to my university?
Ok, I was told by Pharmcas to enter them in the 1st semester of my most current school as they will show up on the transcripts with that semester or right before it. It also may be a good idea to get a transcript to look at so you can see where they did put the scores. If they are not on your current school's transcript, you are to put them with the 1st semester of your 1st univ. ever attended. Hope this helps and isn't too late.

if i say it here and write about it in my essay, then some sneaky adcom might recognize that it was me and then reject me. yeah i kinda paranoid.

pm me then.

My question is for students who have matriculated at a pharmcas school and then were dismissed. Is it possible to apply to a non-pharmcas school without them knowing you were matriculated and or dismissed? That is would I matriculate at the new school and then be found out a couple weeks later somehow? Thanks, desparate.

for non-pharmcas schools, how do they know if you have matriculated at another pharmacy school when one applies? Is there some central databank they feed into?

Hey guys,
Is it ok to send the trascript to pharmcas before I e-submit my application.

I'm missing one more LOR and I know some schools like UOP only require 2 LORs, so will pharmcas still send out my application, then send out the last one when it arrives? Or will they just wait until all LORs are in?

I tried to find this answer in the FAQ in the pharmcas site, but was unsuccessful..

in general, you want to get everything into PharmCAS ASAP, this will speed up the rate at which your applications will be mailed out!

I never completed any credit hours, though did attempt. it is not on my transcript though.

yes, they will send out your application w/o the third LOR.

sdn1977, i sent u a pm

I'm having trouble understanding what the PharmCAS prompt means when it asks about "personal background" and how that will help you achieve your goals.

Are they asking about how if you suffered the loss of a parent will help you be more determined, etc. or are they asking about your personality and how that will help you?

Thank you!

edit* figured it out

I'm on the same boat.. I think they submit what you have thus far, then forward your next LOR that you submit as long as it's before the deadline. can someone confirm this ??

Yes. They sent out my application w/o any LOR's.

As they receive them, they will updated your pharmcas/schools you applied to.

That makes me feel better... thanks for the answers. I actually E-submitted on 9/11 and my GPA calculations has not been posted yet. I read on some other threads it PharmCas just one day for them to calculate their GPA and send their applications out soon after. I guess there is way more traffic now.

Can someone please explain to me why so many pharm schools even use PharmCAS when they decide not to use the provided information on pharmCAS?

It's frustrating to finally fill out PharmCAS then having to fill out the same exact info onto multiple supplemental apps.

I also submitted 9/11 and still no GPA calculations...🙁

Application processing may take up to a month (generally three weeks). So, your calculations may be done in between.

Some schools really only want to focus on certain prereqs. Rather than having their secretaries do the work of sifting through your coursework to find those courses, they'll have you do the work instead.😀

Also, some schools focus on other aspects leading them to ask specific essay questions other schools wouldn't ask.

what if i was lazy but suddenly became hard-working? how could i explain that?

Explain the factors and changes in routine that cause you to shift from lazy to hard-working.

I completed and submitted my PharmCAS app on Oct 31, 2006. The initial printout was mailed by PharmCAS to UF on Nov 16. An update was mailed by PharmCAS to UF on Dec 8, I'm guessing with my PCAT scores that just arrived at PharmCAS.

I submitted all parts of the supplemental application on November 30. I think UF now should have all of my stuff.

I read on UF's website somewhere that they wait until Fall transcripts and PCAT scores are in before reviewing the application. I don't know, but would like to know, if UF will look at it before the Fall transcripts come in.

if this is the case, will our apps be considered late if we submit it say mid october, and the schools don't receive them until way later (after the nov 1 deadline for some of the schools)?

It's been two weeks since I e-submitted.

How long does it take to varify GPA?

Mine hasn't been calulated yet.. is it normal?

They will send my applications to school once they calulate my GPA.. correct?

The "official date" for PharmCAS applications is dated on the date that you send the application. However, many secondary applications have to be received by the school on or before the due date. The PharmCAS application won't be late unless you e-submit after the deadline.

The website specifically says it can take up to 5 weeks for them to do the GPA calc and mail your application. If they need to make any corrections to your info I'm thinking that delays things.

I did early decision and both were done within 2 weeks.

"It's been two weeks since I e-submitted."

Ugh, two weeks and still no GPA calculation? Guess I've got another week at least...

Because they want us to spend more money than we need to. 😀

schools probably also filter people out using pharmcas..this makes the rest of the process easier for them

ex: throw out anyone's pharmcas application that doesn't have higher than a 3.0 science gpa, etc

I agree with this post, they need some reason to justify why we have to fork out $$$ for the suppl. app fees.

Grrr................
