I sent out my transcript to PharmCAS 9/11 and it's now 9/24 and my application says it still hasn't been received. My school said it should only take 5-8 days before it's sent out. Should I be worried it got lost or something or is this normal for them to receive it but then not update your profile for awhile? I'm getting really anxious!

I sent transcripts in June/July and it took some of my schools 3-4 weeks to show them as received. I am not sure if its pharmcas or my schools, but I wouldn't be worried. I am sure pharmcas is much more busy now, so it may take awhile. You don't have to be too anxious because I am sure a lot of others are in the same boat.

Mine came up in about two weeks depending on how fast the schools sent out the transcripts, but that was in July. PharmCAS is really busy now, as said above. I would give them some more time before freaking out.

Well I applied to UOP and Western which are both rolling admissions. And I sent in all my supplementals and LORs by August 29th and I submitted my Pharmcas in a week before August 29 (because I wasnt sure if my prof was going to write me LOR), but after saying mailing date 9/17/07 it still hasn't been sent in to the schools. I see people getting interviews already from tier 2 and was wondering if I was still included in tier 2 or would I be pushed into the pile of tier 3 because pharmcas is so damn slow?

I submitted my PharmCAS later than you but still early. They are being REALLY slow and its driving me nuts too!! 😡

Not sure about Western but here's some info straight from the UOP website:

Pacific uses the date your items were received at PharmCAS and postmarked to Pacific to determine if your application was completed on time. Students will not be penalized for the processing time required by PharmCAS.

I only have a 3.02 GPA and I think I might have to apply to quite a few schools. I was wondering if the fee for PharmCAS is flat or on a per-school basis.

For instance, if I decided to apply for 10 schools, how much would I have to pay?

Where can I download the fee waiver form? Searched all over the site, can't find a link.

It also says:

"PharmCAS fee waivers are no longer available for the 2007-08 cycle"

Does "07-08 cycle" mean applicants who are applying for Fall 08, or is that just an old notice for last year's applicants?

This is a new message and applies to those applying for Fall 08. They probably took the form down because the fee waivers are no longer available.

no longer available as in they are no longer offering the fee waiver anymore ever or no longer available as in they ran out of the fee waivers for this cycle? i really hope it's the latter because i jumped for joy when i found out that pharmcas finally had a fee waiver. i hope it isn't being taken away...

waivers are no longer available for the 2007-08 cycle

I suggest getting your forms in early because I saw this message on the pharmcas site when I started in early July. There is a limited number per cycle.

So did anyone do the early decision thing? If so, where did you apply and what's your status?

Agrees* they were offered early when PharmCAS opened up in early June. If eligible, apply early because they were all asked out.

Hi everybody

I was wondering do I need to send Pharmcas 5 official transcripts if I am applying to five different schools? Or do I just send 1?

Also lets say all 5 schools allow Letter of References to be sent electronically through Pharmcas. If my recommender sends the Letter for one school thru pharmcas do they need to send it again for the other 4 schools or can I just just somehow have it sent to all 5 schools at the same time?

How does pharmcas really work? Is there anything you wish you knew before applying? any advice? I mean i thought pharmcas was so that you didnt have to fill out applications 10 times but only once?

Thanks in advance
Good luck to everyone

Just need to send in 1 transcript for each school and 1 LOR from each recommender. PharmCas then replicates that for each school you designate.

I apologize if someone has already asked this, but I scoured the pages of this forum AND the PharmCAS page and I cannot find the answer.

Some of the schools I'm applying to require three LoRs, so I'm submitting three to PharmCAS. However, some only require two. Will PharmCAS submit all three to all schools, even the ones that only want two? Or will they send three to some and two to the others? If so, how do they determine which two to send?

I believe they will send all 3 because on the pharmcas website it says they dont check what the recommendations are for each school, they just send everything over to the schools you choose. What im thinking about doing is that send the application to those schools that require 3 LOR and then resend (if i can edit the application) ill resend the application again but deselecting the LOR that i dont want for the school that requires 2 LORs and submit the application again.

But this is a very good question. I dont think pharmcas does a good job in explain how everything works you know? but i guess you have to go on pharm cas and read the "before you apply" section properly

I don't think you can delete a LoR once it's already been e-submitted, that's the problem. I wish there was a definitive answer on the PharmCAS website. I might contact them tomorrow and see if they have an answer. It's only an issue because I have to recommendation writers who know me very well and one who knows me a little bit less, and I'd rather my schools get the two that know me and discard the third.

Hi all. I was curious about submitting my application through pharmcas although one of my references hasn't completed the letter. He tells me that I have to remind him daily. LOL... I'd feel like a nag if I did that.

I was wondering if pharmcas would forward the letter when they receive it if I submit now. I tried doing a search, but couldn't find anything quickly that looked related. I don't have more time to search more. Gotta get back to work!

What if I wanted to send in a 3rd letter? Would they send taht to the school too (even though they only require 2 letters?)

Thanks in advance. =)

It took nearly 3 weeks for me--20 days. 😀

I submitted on 9/11 and it says mailing status: 10/1 and "NEW" on the side, also under the mailing date tab it is still blank...so what does that mean?

PharmCAS will make everything you submit available to all pharmCAS-participating schools. Therefore, they will forward letters as you submit them.

Don't worry about the "New" on the side. My pharmcas mailing date was 7/27 and to this day, it still says "New" on the side. All the pharmacy schools I applied to received my application in early August. My mailing date is still blank too. Don't stress over it-- I don't understand why the chart is the way it is but all that matters is that your application will be sent shortly.

Yeah, I don't know they have it setup like that... it causes more stress for everyone. Thanks for the explanation.👍

Hey y'all. I emailed PharmCAS customer service and was advised NOT to wait until all references are in. If everything else is ready, to e-submit and then my application will be placed in the queue for GPA calculation. If the letter is received by the time it is ready to go, then the letter will be placed in the original application packet, otherwise, it will be forwarded when received.

Hope this helps someone else! :luck:

I wonder if I can submit my application without a personal statement. 😕 I started to work on it but I don't know how long it is going to take. I need to figure out how to compensate for my lack of experience in my decision of becoming a pharmacist (sigh) 😡

You need a personal statement to submit. You wont be able to modify it afterwards.

I matriculated at a medical school and have heard that amcass contacts the undergrade institution of this, maybe the pre-health advisor? What information does amcass send to the undergraduate institution when a student applies, matriculates? I value privacy.

This is the pharmacy forum?

If the mailing status on pharmcas says New, does that mean that my schools have got my applicationg but havn't reviewed it yet, or that they haven't recieved it yet.

It means it has been sent and when school's receive the application they "sometimes" let you know that they have received it through e-mail... Possibly mail also...

It's probably still a bit early for being denied, but I know a lot of students are getting interviewed already. I'll respond to this thread as soon as I get the good news of being accepted.

It'll stay as "new" whether the schools receive it or not.

now it says "revised". Im just assuming that means they sent out my August PCAT scored

I'm applying to a school that only requires 2 letters of recommendation. I have been out of school for quite some time, and the letters that I have are from my employers. I have taken some online courses for the past 2 semesters. My question is, should I try to get one of my online professors to write a letter of recommendation for me? I just feel that the online environment is a lot less personal than a classroom environment. There is one professor who I've had both last semester and this, and he has been willing to write letters for students applying for his university's programs. Would it look better to have a letter of recommendation from a professor in addition to my professional references?

Hopefully this post made sense. 🙂

If a school sends a student a interview request, via phone or email or whatever, will it show up on pharmcas...Is there any way to tell on pharmcas that an interview has been offered to you, so you can expect it?

hmm..nope I dont think anything shows up on pharmcas. Nothing's different on mine and I have a few interview.

Check the LOR requirements for the school's you're applying to. Some don't allow employer recommendations. If it says you can use an employer, great. I would suggest getting at least one from a professor though. They want to know you can hack the coursework/courseload. The best person to evaluate you in that area is a professor. I personally would recommend math/science professors as they tend to cover the more relative subjects, but I'd get at least one professor regardless of the subject, personally.

Hi all,

First of all, thank you anyone for answering my question.

I know most schools require 2-3 LORs, which would include a science professor and someone who knows you through pharmacy related experience. As of now, I have a humanity professor and an undergraduate research professor to write me an LOR. However, is it okay to have an undergraduate research professor in the field of microbiology to write me an LOR instead of having a science professor who taught me biology or chemistry and I earned a GPA for the class? 😕 Thank you all.

This is purely my opinion, I think you should try to get a science/math professor to write your last rec letter. Is there a reason you don't want a science/math prof to write your recommendation? Since pharm school is science-based, they may wonder why you have 2 research professors (which you didn't have classes with) and a humanities professor. Pharm schools want to know if you can handle a full science course load.

I have two science professors to write me letters of recommendation; however, some school deadline is Nov 1. These two professors are not available to fill out the PharmCAS forms before this deadline. They already wrote the letters though. I wonder if I can just send their letters along with my supplemental application. On PharmCAS, I have a humanity professor, an undergraduate research professor that I work with, and a hospital pharmacist. Since they already submitted their letter, I cannot add more LOR to pharmcas. Am I in trouble?🙁😕

Though there are schools that have mandates such as a LOR from a science professor and/or pharmacist, there is nothing wrong with getting a LOR from your research advisor. I am quite sure of this because one of my three LORs was from my research advisor.

The point is that a LOR is supposed to corroborate your academic and maturity levels through another person with credibility. A research advisor who has worked with you personally fits that role and would be better than a science professor who doesn't recognize you in a class of 200 people. Plus, the fact that this advisor is a science one addresses the science portion.

So, I think that you are fine with your LORs. Just avoid applying to schools that require at least one letter from an actual science professor.

Hi friends i got a couple of questions 🙂
1)Does any of you know which pharmacy schools in texas accept the pharmcas application?

2)Is anyone applying thru pharmCAS?

3)Is it better to apply through Pharmcas rather than through the college website?
I would really appreciate all help...thank u!

No pharmacy school in Texas uses Pharmcas. For some schools (Tech and UH), you have to apply online. I think, you also apply online for UT. For other schools (UIW, A&M) you can download and print their applications from their website. I don't know about TSU since I am not applying there.

Unfortunately, no Texas school accepts applications through Pharmcas. 🙁
