So I've looked all over the PharmCAS website and I can't figure out when its OK to e-submit my application. I know someone else posted about whether or not you could submit without all of your LORs, but I'm wondering about transcripts?

I requested my transcripts be sent a couple of weeks ago. Can I go ahead and e-submit, or do you think I should wait until my transcript status page is updated? I haven't called to ask yet - thought I'd fish for some answers here first.

If everything else is ready, you should submit now. They will update your transcript when it comes. That's what I did.

Several people have told me that this would be ok and that everything will be updated as it arrives, but I too have yet to submit cause Im worried my app will end up incomplete. 😳

Well I'm trying to meet UOP's deadline for Tier II (9/1), and I heard you can't e-submit w/o all your references having been recieved by pharmCAS... not sure about transcripts though, they may be a different story.

Hi guys, I had a couple of questions about filling in the activities section of my pharmCAS. Thanks for any help.

1) I recieved the Governor's scholarship when I was in Highschool (its due to your tests scores in CA standardized test) and I wasn't sure whether to list it because I do have plenty of space in that section. I got it in highschool though so I wasn't sure if it was still valid.

2) I also am a member of National Society of Collegiate Scholars, but I haven't actively participated in their events, so I wasn't sure whether or not I should list it as an activity or an honor?

3) Also, I'm currently an assistant at a plant biology labratory/greenhouse. The research project consists of 105 redwood trees that are being fed varying salt treatments in an attempt to study the effects of salt on redwood trees. The project is being funded by the Santa Clara Valley District and my job is to make the salt solutions (which IMO is pretty important and challenging job.. at first at least.. it takes me 2 hours to make one 8L bottle, its a very precise process). I also measure trunk diameter, height, and I also collect water samples that I test in the labs for electroconductivity and pH. My question was... am I a labratory assistant or a research assistant? Is there a difference? If there is I'm not sure what the difference is exactly, I just don't want to look like I'm trying to be something I'm not.

1) Im not from CA so I don't know what the governor's scholarship is, but it does sound prestigious. If it's about community service, for example, you could address that in your personal statement. Thats how I brought up awards I received in high school from the Girl Scouts, but I didn't put them on Pharmcas.

2) I would recommend putting that as an award, as you are not an active member. That's what I did for my college's honor society. I've never gone to the meetings so I am not an active member, but I did receive the award of being asked to join.

3) Perhaps you could ask your boss what your exact job title is. It probably doesn't make a huge difference though.

I would definitely list #2 and #3. I'm not sure about #1; it depends on how long you've been out of high school and if you have any other activities to list. If it's one of the better activities you have then I would just list it anyway.

Foe number 2, you can just write that you are a member, which is true anyway. Maybe you can describe the organization a little bit without saying that you personally were involved in the events.

yikes, LOR's have to be received too? did you call them about that? for the transcripts though, they told me that it must be 'received' by pharmcas... this means that it needs to be on record already right? 😕

Pharmcas wants 3 letters of recommendation. Some schools want 2. How do you choose which letters to go to which schools?

They will then send your application to your schools even if all your LOR have not been received. They will forward these upon arrival.

Yeah... I am a little confused my self. I have no idea where to send the transcript to....I cant find the address. I also dont know how they know how they will match my transcripts with my application. Can anyone educate me?

There is a transcript request form that you print directly from Pharmcas and send to any colleges you have attended. The form requires you to put your Pharmcas ID number so there shouldn't be any problem with matching your transcripts to your Pharmcas application. Hope this helps 🙂

My question is, are all the classes that I input for coursework considered "Lower Level (Fr/Sop)" ? For instance, Calculus, Organic Chemistry, Physics, or Anatomy and Physiology, are those considered "Lower Level" because of the community college? 😕

I did put them in as "Lower Level" but wanted to be sure I am correct. My transcript makes no mention as to the level of the course. Thanks in advance😀 .

Yep, you got it right. If you took it at a CC, it is considering 1st and 2nd year coursework, and thus is "Lower Level."

I just based it off of what my University classified it as. Organic is an upper division everywhere but a CC

Once you get all your information in- like your schools/personal info/grades, etc. you should e-submit (after you double check it, and then check it again of course!). The reason why you should e-submit early is to avoid the rush of other applications. It also brings peace of mind and is one less thing to think about.

Just make sure you double/triple check everything. Once the app is sent, there's no turning back

Go to the PCAT site and log in. Now go to account info. It'll tell you when and how you paid for the PCAT and which schools you selected to send it to. If PharmCAS isn't selected, then you will have to pay 20 dollars to have it sent. You get 3 free places to send it to and after that it's 20 bucks. Hope this helps. 👍

It's a monopoly. Hartcourt can do whatever it wants, just like ETS does with TOEFL.

As the deadline approaches, I assume PharmCAS starts getting more and more applications and transcripts. I think whatever you do, you should send your transcript quickly. Community college is always slow and you should pay the extra $$$ for rush.

They put the updated date online, not the received date. Unless they received and updated on the same day. I doubt that happened though.

Some schools require that the scores be sent to them directly while others do not. Check the schools page on PharmCAS for each school you are applying to to make sure you do the correct thing for each school.

Then the scores got sent to the school and not PharmCAS. Most schools that use PharmCAS require that scores be sent directly to PharmCAS so that your application is all together. Like banana said, go to the school info page on PharmCAS to find out for sure. 🙂

I will be taking the PCAT in October. Can I submit my PharmCAS now or do I have to wait until I get my results after taking the PCAT? If I wait to get my results it will be late November and some school's deadline is October! Can I submit Pharmcas now and send PCAT results later??

Yes you can submit Pharmcas now. They will then forward your PCAT results to your designated schools. Pharmcas will obtain them 4-5 weeks after PCAT test date.

pharmcas sucks. 40% pharmacy schools do not participate in pharmcas. It takes long time to update our materials (transcripts, LOR..) online. I agree that pharmcas is pointless

I didn't apply to any pharmcas schools, and my TOTAL application fees were $30.

Only one school I was interested in participated in that, and there was no way I was going through all that for a school I wasn't even that interested in.

I have mixed feelings about pharmcas. For one of my supplementals, I duplicated exactly the information that I paid money to PharmCAS to submit for me. For another, most of the supplemental stuff was new. For another the supplemental was ultra-easy and the pharmcas was the bulk of my application.

So, I think it depends on the school. Hang in there. The process is sometimes frustrating. Just play the game and you'll be in pharm school at this time next year.

totally agree. I spent close to $200 on only one school last year. worse yet, there was a delay....because pharmcas didn't notify me until a month later that they never received one of my transcripts....i only got an email notification. learned my lesson, will check this time.

If all the schools accepted it, it would be fine. But there are some schools that don't. And you have to send transcripts to some schools regardless, which negates the point of Pharmcas.

Has this happened to anyone who has e-submitted their pharmCAS app? I had a transcript updated for my summer class and it showed last week that it was received by PharmCAS. I e-submitted after I knew all my transcripts were received. Now I look, and my updated transcipt is no longer listed with my received transcripts. WTF?

My transcript was received by Pharmcas Aug. 28. I then e submitted. Pharmcas says it may take up to 5 weeks before GPA is calculated and transcript verified. Can anyone give me what their "wait time" was? Is this a busy time for Pharmcas with people like me waiting to finish a summer course before submitting transcript?

My transcripts were received the week of August 18th and were verified earlier this week. It can take up to 5 weeks, but I think since it is still early in the application year Pharmcas is able to generate their GPAs faster.

My transcript was received on Aug. 29th and when I checked today (Sept. 9) my GPAs had been verified and calculated. They had not been as of yesterday, so I would think it should be soon if they received your transcript on the 28th.

My GPA has been calculated and transcript verified as of Sept. 8th after receiving them Aug. 28. Still not mailed out.

My institution doesn't give letter grades. Instead it gives out 4.0's, 3.5, 3.0, etc.

So, would a 3.50 be a B+ or A- for pharmcas?

Under work experience, it says "position title/brief description" So am I supposed to put both a job title and a brief description of the job? Or am I supposed to put EITHER a job title OR a brief desc. of a NON-titled job position? I'm confused. Help!
