PharmCAS

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I know that they CAN view you application online.. but I think they probably will wait for the paper copy. I mean I know I called UOP and I e-mailed Touro and they said my app was incomplete because the PharmCAS app hasn't been recieved yet, but I e-submitted on Aug 31st and it was mailed on 18th of sept... so I mean they can look it up if they wanted to... maybe it depends on the school.

About half month and maximum is up to 1 month. Depends on how accuracy you entered your courseworks in pharmcas.

About how long did it take to get you supplemental applications after you had submitted you primary application on PharmCas?

I could be wrong (I'm definitely no expert!), but for some schools you don't have to wait for PharmCAS before you do your supplemental. I applied to Creighton and was able to complete their supplemental online app at the same time I was working on getting PharmCAS completed - in fact, I think I finished the supp. and e-submitted PharmCAS the same day.

However, there are other schools that I'm pretty sure forward their supplementals after you finish PharmCAS, so if you're only talking about those schools, sorry I'm no help!

when applying to University of Florida through pharmcas, do you have to select the gainsville campus alone or the gainsville campus along with the other satellite campuses if you're interested in attending their satellite locations?

i'm interested in attending the gainsville campus but i know its competetative so i'd be willing to attend their satellite campuses if i can't get into their main campus.

Am I able to submit my application even though I don't have my second LOR and a missing transcript? Everything else is complete (essay, course info, etc).

Thank you in advance.

Yes you can e-submit now. Pharmcas won't mail a paper copy out until the missing items are received and verified.

You can e-submit at anytime, as PharmCAS will not deny $$ coming their way. However, like the last post said, PharmCAS will do nothing until that missing transcript is received, and once it is, they will still take a while to calculate your GPA before sending it off to schools.

The satellite campuses are just as competitive. Many people with families want to go to school near their home and there are less seats at those campuses, as well. Just select all the campuses. UF will have you do a ranking form.

I don't think that you have to pay for each school. I got in before PharmCas existed, so I'm not sure.

Do I need to list the people that will be writing a LOR, or can that be added after I submit the application? I just have one so far.

Yes. Fill in every blank, then e-submit. The information will catch up.

Is pharmcas something you have to fill in all at once, or can you save your application and come back to it later?

And from the posts above, it seems that PHARMCAS takes some time. I'm planning on having my LORs done by mid november. Does this mean that my application will be sent in before December to the colleges I have applied to?

yeah, you have to pay extra for each campus.😡

Pharmcas is something that you can save and get back to later. The only time you will not be able to make any changes to your app is when u e-submit. So, don't e-submit until u are sure about it!

Yes, pharmcas does take sometime, and I think it is starting to get more busy because they have so many apps to process and verify. My advice is don't wait until November to get ur pharmcas app done, try to get it done asap!!!

Another question: If pharmcas has not calculated your gpa, and you send the schools u are applying to ur supplemental application, can't the school just go on pharmcas and look at your info, even though they don't have the paper app?

I'm uploading 3 LORS online, for the schools requiring onliy two but specific LORS (like one from a pharmacist and one from a prof), how will they know which two to pick?

yeah, you have to pay extra for each campus.😡

i dont think you do, i selected all 4 and it was the same price

im hoping to get in gainesville or orlando. i live by daytona right now

and ive talked to a guy in his last year at the orlando campus and he says they have done studies and the satellite kids do better than the gville ones

I was told by 2 people in the pharmacy admission department that they do not look at which campus you chose until after they accept you. If they do accept you, then they give you the option of the college. The way she (orlando) made it sound was if you are one of the last ones they chose, then you have to go to whatever campus are left or decline the offer. I spoke to gain and orlando offices.

Yup what seez said. I personally only ranked Gainesville and Orlando. When they do accept you, they'll send you a form where you rank where you want to go. Remember DO NOT rank someplace that you will not be willing to move. On Pharmcas I just selected UF-Gainesville. That was also the first year of Pharmcas and I don't know if they had the distance sites on there then. Good luck everyone!

I'm a 1PD in Jacksonville, and they had us fill out an online form to rank our campuses AFTER they accepted us to the program. I ranked Jacksonville #1 and Gainesville #2. Like the others said, don't put down a campus you aren't prepared to attend. We have people from Orlando at our campus, and I remember one person from Tampa who had to move to Jacksonville.

I emailed pharmcas about that same question, they said you need to contact your schools directly.

If anyone did that and know how... please let us know!

You can also change campuses under certain conditions. We've had Gainesville students come to our campus. They had to find someone else willing to go to Gainesville.

During the last two months of school, after rotations are over, you get randomized to another campus. Most people at the distance sites get to stay where they are, but not Gainesville. They need an equal number of students at each campus for the last semester of Pharmacotherapy.

It is my understanding that PharmCas will send all three. I would think that the school would know which to pick, but it is a good idea to call the school just to make sure.

How do I calculate my Pharmcas grade? I dont know how to convert my grade to pharmcas grade?

Well, to let everyone know on how things currently are:

I e-submitted my pharmcas app on 9/26. I just got my GPA calculated today, so it took about a week and a half. Not too bad, but we'll see when they mail out my app to the schools.

Just wondering, did you e-submit before you turned in ur transcript or after pharmcas had recieved it?

Nah, I had everything. My transcripts were in by July, and I got the last of my LORs at the end of august/beginning of september. It just took me a while to get an essay that I liked 😛

FYI, PharmCAS only mails out applications once a week, on Mondays.

Hey all I have some really quick questions!

Is the generic personal statement topic on PharmCAS the same each year? What about the supplemental topics for specific colleges? Do they tend to mix the prompts up and use very new ones from before or are they pretty similar? Thanks for the replies 🙂

What do you do in PharmCAS to indicate if you have taken college courses in High School and have recieved credit (and a grade).

MY concern is because I took two college level English courses in high school, and as a result got out of 6 credits worth of English coursework. Does anybody know how I would mark this down?

You will definitely need to contact pharmcas on that one. I never saw a section for something like that before on pharmcas when I applied last year. They will be able to help you with that.

Actually, they will probably just tell you to enter those grades in under your high school--you would just add your high school name under the "ADD A COLLEGE" section. That's all I would do. And then you will need those transcripts sent to pharmcas. That's all I can think of. I don't know--I hope this somewhat helps though, because I know what you're going thru with Pharmcas. It can be a pain in the butt. So glad I'm done with that.

I'm starting to think that I should have left my planned coursework blank. Things are not going as I planned. Some classes fill up, and now I have to write letters to each school to explain why I have not taken the courses I declared. I'm just curious if other people decided to leave their planned coursework blank.

Do pharmacy schools have to really see which quarter you will take the courses? Or do Pharmacy school only care that you fulfill their requirement before entering their school?

It's really too late for me to be asking these questions but... who knows, maybe this comment will help someone in the future.

Don't forget that you get to do an "Academic Update" in December. I didn't get into a class I said I'd take this fall, so during Acadmic Update, I'm going to change Pharmcas to reflect that I'll be taking the course in the Winter.

I also earned college credit for my high school English coursework. I added the college awarding the credit (a local CC) to my "college attended" section (or whatever it's called), and listed the coursework as it appears on that college's transcript. If indeed you were given college credit, it will be reflected on some college's transcript, and you will have to submit this transcript to Pharmcas, even if you did the bulk of your college studies elsewhere.

great info pharm,

I have another question about pharmcas. If you pay for just 2 schools initally($175) can you go back later and add a third or fourth school($additional $40 or $80)?

The answer on all the directions is YES. I've never done it personally though...so I'm not sure exactly how it works.

I actually got my answer from a University registrar. I'll give PHARMCAS more info than it actually need.

I called the PHARMAS number on the website today, and nobody picked up. I was expecting numeric menu at the least, and I got crap. I even let it ring (on my last attempt to get through) 20 times just to see if they picked up. An odd flaw in what seems to be an alright system.

Hi. I've had this problem with Pharmcas before, and have a definitive answer to your question. Pharmcas does not accept high school transcripts. If you took a college level course in high school and it was AP/CLEP/IB, then it will be fine to just submit the transcript that the courses transferred into. If you took a course that was NOT AP/CLEP/IB then you will need to submit the transcript from whatever college that the course was taken through.

I asked a Unversity Registrar today and they said that if you took a college course during high school, the university will have generated an official transcript in your name for the courses you took.

So yes I am confirming what you said. Hopefully other people will find this thread in the future.

Well, I had the same situation, and I actually have taken 48 quarter hours while in high school. I didn't bother calling them. Instead, I just put down what I have on the transcript. However, make sure you indicate your HS graduation year to indicate that the 6 credit courses you have taken are completed during high school

Transcript mess up sigh.
Im not sure if i can apply now.
My transcript got into pharmcas this week (october 17), but how long does it take them to process it. I mean i read their website and it said that it takes them 5 weeks to process. Oh my gosh, what to do?

my school's deadline is November 1st. Do you guys think it will get processed in time, Im so worry..

im finish with everything but the transcript.

So are you saying that even if the transcript isnt finish processing, I can still submit the pharmcas?

Yes. As long as you E-Submit your application on or before Nov.1.

I have a same problem as you have. But I contacted pharmcas, and they told me as long as I submit my pharmcas application by Nov 1, and they recieve the fees and everything else by the school's deadline, I will be ok!
