I found out that I'm eligble to join Phi Eta Sigma, a national honor society for college freshmen who achieved at least 3.5 GPA. However, I must pay $45.00 to join it. I'm wondering if this is impressive or meaningless? Do medical schools care about this?

not only do medical schools not care about this, nobody cares about this.

👍

Only plus side is it might give you some interesting EC activities. An honor frat membership in itself is meaningless.

Cool. Thanks for helping me save my money. $45 is quite a lot to me as a college student.

At least at our school, it's an opportunity for a really cheap leadership title if you are part of Phi Eta Sigma. But that's something that sounds like BS on your application. Just throwing that out there... I only did it because my parents paid for it 😀

I'd be happy to bestow an honor on you if you sent me $45. For $50 I'll verify that it was meaningful if asked.

i think it is definitely worth 45 bucks........just another EC, sure, ......but one you will have for 4 years!!!!!

Wow! That's uh, hmm, uh, just over $11 a year!

I'm Phi Eta Sigma. Seemed cool at the time, but turned out to be not much more than a piece of paper with my name in caligraphy. I didn't even bother putting it on my app.

Surely you'll do things in college that with trump this, but you can include it with all the semesters you made the Dean's list if you need to.

So, if you have the $45 it is something you can be proud of and it won't hurt you at all. I'm just not sure it will help you at all, either.
