I've decided to go with the common work-in-health-care-route-during-my-year-off scenario, and I something I'm genuinely interested in, after having volunteered at my university's blood & platelet center, is phlebotomy. My school offers the phlebotomy course over the summer. I'm already going to be here over the summer taking 2 summer school courses (between junior and senior years) that combined will be reasonably intensive.

Can anyone comment on the level of intensity of phlebotomy training (apart from the normal class time)? I want to be able to gauge for myself if this is doable or if my summer plans are spreading me too thin.

Sorry for new-threading this. Couldn't find a similar enough old thread to seed onto

INCREDIBLY non intense.

can you stick a 21g butterfly into an obvious vein?

the rest will come on the job.

Depends on the program. Our inpatient rotations started at 5am 5 days a week for a couple of weeks. Check with your program's schedule to see if it works out with your classes. Very doable though.
