Looking for jobs in the Phoenix area. Anybody work for a group that's hiring? Please let me know. Thanks!

$300 is probably the worst paying in town right now. Banner Gateway is at $350/hr W2 per diem and hiring a lot. Only 1099 options are GAS, AzAS, Sound that I know of though. All of Envision is W2 but it’s the best for solo work. Tucson has multiple 400+ jobs right now.

I know this. Phoenix pay is low. I didn't like working in Phoenix, so i stopped and started locums.
I got a headhunter email today advertising this absurdity in Phoenix:

L1 trauma and burn center

Base salary $329,500

$200/h for overtime
$225 per 12h pager call

4-5 in-house calls per month
4 weeks vacation + 1 week CME

Plus some benefits (health, disability, malpractice)

My old group pays less than $300. At least according to my friends who still work there.

That is disgusting, even for 4 years ago. Curious what would bring someone to agree to that.

Fold that clown offer into a paper airplane and throw it at whatever clown proposed that insult.

Oh it gets better.

I'm not looking for a job but I sometimes reply to these people just to get a feel for what's going on out there. The initial spam didn't include any salary info so I asked what they were offering, and said they should include that basic important data in the initial message.

Her response:

clueless headhunter said:
I feel that the most important factors are patient care and matching candidates to positions that are a good fit for provider and patients.

It sounds like your main focus is salary, so you would probably not be a good fit for this location that focuses on “providing care to the underserved ”.

I mean, she's not wrong. I would not be a good fit for that job.

I wished her good luck. 🙂 Maybe she'll find some guy wearing an ankle bracelet that confines him to a six block radius including that hospital.

Unbelievable.

I’m sure she herself is working for a “good fit” for 50% under market pay.

Anyone have insight on the situation in Tucson and Envison/Banner?
What do you think of the gaswork ads for Tucson?

Tucson has been a gold mine since last year and no signs of changing anytime soon. Pretty sure every hospital down there is very desperate. Some folks were making $500/hr at Northwest. TMC (IAS), TMC Rincon (Sound), Banner Tucson (Envision) are always looking for people and all seem like decent jobs. If you can stomach Tucson or are locums then that may be the highest density of high paying jobs in the country.

Sound and envision - no thanks. Any private equity job is **** these days

Solo work? Still able to get $500/hr?

Med student here. Was wondering how many hours per week you guys are working as anesthesiologists at rate of $400/hr

I pick up extra call and averaged 52hrs/week this year. Not paid at that rate, however. After everything I'm getting about $320/hr as a W2 employee, but on average a lot of those hours are pretty easy/light. Made just over $750 this year.

Is that in PHX.
Anyways there was a gaswork post for a cardiac position in Lake Havasu (3hrs away) that is offering 1M.

1m isn’t hard if you want to work nowadays, plus who wants to live in Havasu. Key is working hard. If you’re graduating residency and used to 60 hours a week and 4 weeks of vacation, well that same lifestyle at just $400/hr (very reasonable nowadays) is $1.15m.

She didn't say where exactly. I didn't ask. Those were figures she quoted for now, and she told me I wouldn't be a good fit since I was focused on salary.

I just wished her luck and unsubscribed from their mailing list (which I'd never subscribed to in the first place).

Seems like there's always some recruiter who's completely out of touch. Or maybe just on their first day on the job. A couple years back when I was still in the Navy someone offered me $150/h and was in utter disbelief when I told him I was already making $270/h 10 miles away from them. Dude actually told me he didn't believe that because they'd done extensive market research for the area.

Even crnas dont get out of bed for less than 200

This would be valleywise/district. County is the burn center in town.
yeah. I don’t know much about the phoenix market. Just all these sell outs damaged the anesthesia market for almost all of the 2010s.

Valley Anesthesiology Consultants is the Envision group staffing part of Banner's downtown university hospital. It's a large group with other divisions too. It's a pretty great deal for solo physician care. Flexible vacation but ability to earn near $800K if you want to take call a bit more. The daily work schedule is pretty manageable.

The vacation gets longer per year. They do some supervision

Depends on what division you sign on with. The downtown division that staffs Banner's University Medical Center is MD only except for having a CRNA to be able to sit Cesareans on obstetrics, do epidural "top-off doses," and help out otherwise.

Anybody have insight into Guide Anesthesia (AzAs) in Phoenix area? Their website advertises open positions. Their website in the "News and Updates" call their CRNP DNP, Dr CRNA. Is this a hint at how they practice? What about the Banner sites in Phoenix or Gilbert, how is their anesthesia depts and pay? I'm looking for a dept that is run well, fair and they pay is at least $500K with at least 8-10 weeks off. Anyone able to chime in on Phoenix anesthesia groups? I've seen Chandler anesthesia advertising for years

AzAS is a group run by the most vocal anti-doc CRNA in the country who leads the CRNA independence movement, hence Dr. CRNA. That should tell you everything you need to know about it.

Wow. That is good to know as I don't live in Arizona so I am not familiar with the anesthesia dynamics in Phoenix or any AZ cities. I am just looking for jobs in Phoenix area and saw a Gaswork ad for Guide Anesthesia (AzAS) and they had a "Dr" listed as the head anesthesiologist. Maybe they consider this "Dr" a CRNA Dr. I just assumed that chief Dr. is an MD/DO not DNP. I have worked with awesome CRNAs in medical direction and medical supervision models in the past. But no way would I want to go work in a place that vocalizes hostility and disdain for physicians. It's trickery for DNPs calling themselves "anesthesiologist nurse" and confusing people who are MD/DOs and patients. There have been a couple of online ads and groups which are CRNA DNP which one would not know they are CRNAs since they just have the title of "Dr" with no letters behind their last name. Trickery and Sham.

What about Gilbert and other Phoenix anesthesia groups? Banner? Are they malignant places to work at?

They often have an MD at a site to placate the surgeons and hospital. I was offered a job by some of the "independent" CRNAs before I started doing locums. I told them no thank you. I also told one I didn't agree with their practice. Not Joe, I only met him once.

Arizona sounds like a malignant state for anesthesiologists. I don't follow or know the national lead CRNAs who have hatred for anesthesiologists, so I didn't know that some of the nation's most vocal anti-anesthesiologist movements are coming from Arizona. Had no clue. I'll probably pass on Phoenix for a job
