To make a long story short, I'm applying to pharmacy college this fall. I have all my pre-req's done (finishing physiology and lab this semester) and I think I loaded my class schedule up too heavily this fall.

My question is, will the adcoms look down on me taking a 1 cr. physical education class this semester? I know it's not optimal and it won't look great, but I am trying to focus on my core classes and don't want to get overwhelmed. This phys ed class would replace a World Mythology class that isn't required. How bad would this hurt my chances of admission this fall?

Thanks!

Since I am applying for Fall 2011, I won't be able to tell you whether it will hurt your chances, but I have 2 credits from 2 physical education courses that I took several years ago, too. I doubt those will hurt my chances.

I would not think that it will hurt your chances as long as you satisfy their pre-reqs and admission requirement.

Why would a phys ed class hurt your chances?

As long as you're taking other courses that relate to your major/pre-reqs, I don't see why they would care that you took a phys-ed course. Besides, you're replacing world mythology with it... which I don't think most adcoms will care about anyway. Just do well in your core classes.

Ha yeah hopefully I can handle badminton. I just didn't know if it would look a little sketchy that I'm taking a class like that my senior year and the year I'm applying. I'm in phys and phys lab, research in biomedical science, immunology, and a writing course (which I might waive). So badminton wouldn't throw a monkey wrench in anything? I basically just need the extra credit to be full time.

You'll be fine.

The admissions council will see that you took Phys. ed. and all burst into hysterical laughter and throw your resume right in the garbage.

Kidding, youre fine.
