i'm currently a kinesiology major in my first year of college and i was wondering if anyone can help me find a good med school for physiatry--like what major i really should be going in to, what schools to go to, and stuff like that. and what are my requirements to become a physiatrist? any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

Phsyiatry is physical medicine. Very similar to rehabilitive medicine and OMM.

what is physiatry??

PM&R

I wouldn't worry about your specialty while in undergrad... you have a long way to go! Take whatever classes you are interested in and start thinking about it when you get to med school. You may not be one of them, but the majority of people do change their minds about what specialty they think they want to do. Additionally, I doubt that many med schools will actually help you get into a certain program - even if you go to one that has a PM&R residency and do a bunch of rotations with them, there are still a very limited number of slots (even less so for osteopathic residencies).

If you are really interested in it, though, and can't wait to get started... the best thing you could do right now would be to get active in some sort of rehab volunteer work. Or maybe your college has a sports medicine/athletic trainer program you can work with? Not exactly encompassing of PM&R, but it's something.

Google FREIDA for MD PMR and look up the osteopathic ones (sorry i don't know the link). The freida link will give stats on length and such.
