Physician Recommendation

Hello,

For Midwestern (DO), they prefer a recommendation from a physician. I spent the most time with and am the closest with a orthopedic surgical resident in his final year, so I would like him to ask him to write a recommendation for me. However, is it frowned upon if the physician is not a practicing physician whose completed their residency. Thoughts?

IDeally you'd want it from an attending. Would an attending be able to co-sign the residents LoR?
