I have 3 rec letters, from genetics, physics, and public health. I'm currently applying and I'm going to use the ones from the genetics and physics. I waved my right to see the letters and I think the publ. health one might be a bit shady. So what do you guys think about my choice of letters?

sorry im new...public health? is that a class? are you looking for two science professors? i dont know if public health counts as a science class. try to get 2 science professors that have phds? 2 letters might not be enough, you might want to get a letter from an academic/health advisor and/or dentist.

Personally, I'd be uncomfortable asking someone to send a letter for me if I thought it "might be a bit shady". The competition is too fierce to have mediocre LOR.

in terms of letters, most schools want at least two from science (Biology or Chemistry), and specifically, some schools require one Bio and one Chem. So right there, depending on where you are applying, you are lacking in the science/chem requirement. i agree with above comments, if you don't think its strong, don't use it. I would keep your genetics, physics, get a chem one if you can, and maybe a dentist you shadowed if you can. those four would be a solid mix. I used two biology, public health (but i knew it was a good one), dentist through aadsas, and then mailed my chemistry one straight to the specific schools that required it (I think Maryland needs it, if you're applying there...)
