physics right hand rule

i usually figure out the right hand rule. I've use the three fingers

but in this problem, they are using it kind of differently, and I've never done a right hand rule with clockwise or center clockwise, can you do it with the three fingers. ? how

There are several ways to do the right-hand rule - just find a way that works for you and do it. If you got the right answer another way, then your way is fine.
 
yea. i just don't understand the three way fingers. and for this question, how do you know protein x alters the permeability. i can't find any evidence in the passage
