Hi,
In one of the Hormones cards in decks,it says that in presence of estrogen, progesterone or a synthetic substitute, hypothalamus fails to secrete LH-Releasing factor. This inhibits the release of luteinising hormone from anterior pituitary.Subsequently, ovulation doesnot occur.
By this we understand that estrogen/pro/syn. hormone inhibit ovulation, isnt it?
In the very same card it says later that ovulation occurs as a result of estrogen-induced LH surge.
Aren't they contradictory? How can estrogen inhibit as well as induce ovulation?
Can someone please explain this?
