I know these are pretty standard questions (recs from PIs seem to be all the trouble, hm?) but I was hoping to get some advice here.

I spent a semester working in a Psychology lab during my sophomore year of college. The professor and I got along, but I don't think we got to know each other very well. In any case, we didn't have much interaction in the following two years, or in the year since I've graduated. I spent my junior and senior years in two biology labs, and I am fairly positive that I have great recommendations from both my PIs there. Similarly, my PI in the lab I work in now has written me a recommendation for medical school.

However, I am applying to MD/PhD programs, and wondering if I should hunt this prof down for a rec, even if its brief? I simply don't think it will add anything to my application, and I doubt he remembers me at this point. But I don't want schools to think that I am excluding a letter from him because we didn't get along.

How necessary is it that I hunt him down, do you think?

so i would assume that if you're not applyin to MD/PHD this wouldnt be an issue?

i spent half a year in lab. never quite liked it. didnt mean i didnt appreciate it or the PI though.
