During my sophomore year, I was working on a clinical research project that my PI was very determined to get published. By the end of the school year, I had compiled the majority of the data I needed and the plan was to meet with a statistician and begin writing over the summer and during the following school year. However, my PI ended up moving across the country so obviously the project was never finished. Is the fact that my PI moved away something I should note? I joined a new lab the following year but I would have stuck with my original one and tried to finish my project if she had not moved, it just wasn't possible with the long distance. Thanks!

I don't think its absolutely necessary. I think it depends on what you are trying to explain and whether that makes it relevant.

Are you getting a LOR from your former PI? If so, I don't think you need to say anything since he/she will most likely explain it in his/her letter.

Yes, I am currently waiting for her LOR. Thanks for the advice!
