  1. Pre-Dental
So I’m taking the DAT at the end of spring semester. I only have space for 2 classes left in my schedule and I have 3 options for classes. I was wondering which two would help me on the DAT the most. The three classes are cell biology, biochemistry, and organic chemistry 2. Which two should I take? Thanks for the help

Definitely orgo 2 and biochem

Cell bio and ochem 2. Not that much biochem and if there is it will be below the scope of the class.

Sorry I know I asked last week about this but I have a new predicament
I’m trying to decide between taking biochemistry or cell biology next semester as I only have room for one. I asked and SDN said I should take cell biology as it would help me prepare for the DAT this summer better but I realized that Biochem is a pre requisite for all schools. Would it look better to have an extra prerequisite done or to maybe possibly do a little but better on the DAT? Let me know what you think! Thank you

Taking cell biology before biochemistry will make biochemistry easier for you. If I were you, I would take cell biology and then biochemistry later.

the dental school wouldn’t care that I have an extra pre req missing? For most schools all I’m missing so far is physics 1&2 and maybe biochem. Just wondering if having an extra pre req done increases chances of acceptance

You can have biochemistry as a planned course when you apply, it allows you to do that on the application and dental schools will see that you plan on taking it. You'll have it before you matriculate into dental school right? If you have no option and won't be taking classes anymore after next semester, then take biochemistry. That's just my opinion, you do what's best for you.

Ya I’m currently in my junior year so I have all next year to take physics and biochem/ finish my degree

I would take cell biology, then biochemistry if I were you. Biochemistry goes more in depth than cell biology. In cell biology, you learn about glycolysis and all the amino acids, but you don't have to know all the steps and the amino acid structures. In biochemistry, you have to memorize each step of glycolysis/enzyme and you have to memorize all the amino acid structures. So, cell biology is the way to go in my opinion because it'll help you on the DAT and in biochemistry.

I agree with turtlecreeps. Take cell bio first, as it will help you do better on the DAT. I took the DAT after just taking bio 1 and bio 2 and didn't know anything from upper divisions. I am in cell bio right now, and I know some of the stuff because I learned it when I was studying for the DAT. When I was in biochem, I saw that only the first chapter was on the DAT. So take cell bio

As far as prerequisites go, they expect you to have them done before you start dental school not before you apply.
