I've read the previous posts regarding lab selection and I thought I had picked a perfect lab. The PI is great (from my alma mater, talked to past postdocs and grad students from the lab to confirm), well published (JBC, PNAS, NSMB, Nature, Cell), small lab (3-4 people but still turns out 3-4 publications a year consistently), but here comes the problem. Even though he has a long history of R01 funding (~10years) he is apparently low on funds to the point where he said he may have to cut the tech/master's student loose and divert the money to fund me for the next couple of years. I thought that was a red flag, but am I over analyzing the situation?
