Hi all,

I'm a 2nd year picking out a rotation schedule for next year. Our rotations start on May 1st.

I think I want to go into Radiology, Neurology, or Cardiology. Definitely something NON-surg but interventional is a possibility.

Currently I'm thinking of doing Surgery first. What is your opinions on what order I should do things in order to

1. not burn out from hard shelfs
2. maximize my performance on what I want to go into.

Sadly, radiology is NOT a rotation choice for us until 4th year. I appreciate any inputs you guys may have!

I don't think that rotation order matters in terms of shelf scores/rotation performance however.

Really? I keep getting mixed answers. Some people say that you will be definitely at a disadvantage for the surgery shelf if you have that first and haven't yet had medicine. Would you agree with this? I feel like having it first, you could still do well if you remember stuff from Step 1, but maybe I'm wrong.

Having said that, do any 3rd/4th years want to give input on either of these two rotation orders (I have no interest in going into surgery):

1. IM(core)-Psych-ObGyn-Peds-Elective-Vacation-FP-IM(selective)-Surgery
Vs.
2. FP-IM(selective)-Surgery-IM(core)-Psych-ObGyn-Peds-Elective-Vacation.

Yeah we have to pick an advisor by Dec. 15th so I hope I can get exposure to the field I want before then. Too bad our school doesn't offer a Rads 3rd year elective. How should I go about picking an advisor for that. My other choice is Cardiology but I have IM in Dec. according to my pick now.
