does anyone have one i.e. nose, lip, eyebrow, tongue and if so did you keep in for interviews or put a clear retainer in or anything?

i have a nose stud and a lip ring. i'm totally prepared to take them out if i absolutely have to, but i'd like to keep them in a bit longer.

Honestly I think it is best to take them out for interviews. Conservative is the key . I even took out my second ear piercings for my interviews. Once you your in med school then I don't think it matters if you wear them or not.

Couldn't agree more. No one ever notices my tongue ring but I took it out for my interviews anyway.

I'd recommend at least taking out the lip ring for interviews. Probably better to take out the nose ring, too, but a small plain nose ring might not be an issue.

This company has really good clear retainers. I highly recommend them.

My nose is pierced and I usually keep in a plain stud, but I keep a retainer with me in case a Dr has issues with the piercing when I'm on rotations. I've only been asked to remove it once (by a resident).

That said, interviews are a whole different ballgame & I'd really think you'd be best off with no visible body jewelry on those days.

uh oh... Dr Mom is a REBEL

Can you wear a retainer for two months solid? Will it stay in?

I've worn one for a month at a time. If the piercing is healed it isn't an issue at all unless you end up with some weird allergic reaction to the plastic in the retainer.

You're not really supposed to wear the retainers in an unhealed piercing, but I did that, too, for the first 2 weeks or so that I had it pierced.

Why cant you wear one on an unhealed piercing? what keeps an eyebrow retainer from falling out?

The company just doesn't recommend it. I don't recommend taking the jewelry out of a new piercing. It can really hurt & you usually end up making it take longer to heal. (basically b/c you're messing with it) You also increase your infection risk (which may be why the company says not to do it)

Worked okay for me, though.

As far as keeping in eyebrow retainers goes, I know that some have little rubber band type rings that fit over one end, but those ones are not exactly *invisible*. The bodybonz retainers are pretty good about staying in place if you get the right size/type, but it certainly is possible for them to fall out.
