Interviewers will see you for what you say- not what you look like...a million earings or not.

Most psychological studies suggest that people's impressions of you cannot help but be influenced by your appearance. You are trying to get into a profession, not a dance club. If an interviewer, likely an older clinician, thinks that certain piercings are unprofessional, you can bet that s/he won't easilly get past it in the interview evaluation, no matter how eloquent you are.

Any thoughts on a nose ring? It has some ethnic significance, although I suppose I wouldn't mind taking it out.

Interersting thread, interesting question. At first, I was going to respond with "of course that would be alright! It's cultural." Then I figured that I didn't know Persians had a tendency for nose piercings, so maybe adcomms wouldn't either.

Then I was reminded of this Dilbert cartoon, where the boss claims that since he didn't know Michigan was a state, clearly the stupid public wouldn't either. At least I think that's what he said he didn't know. I'm afraid I'm mixing cartoons.

Where can you get a clear spacer? That's what I wanted to do, too, but I have been unable to find one (for my nose piercing.)
I went to a piercing shop- they sell them in different gauges. They're only about $5.
