Hi! I'm deciding between Pitt and OHSU (Portland), and I would love any advice. I'm OOS, so both are pretty expensive with Pitt being 383k and OHSU being 441k, but I'm eligible to receive a WICHE scholarship and possibly get IS for OHSU (but I won't know until right before matriculation). I loved both schools, but something I'm hung up about is the P/F system at OHSU. I'm interested in specializing and wondering if P/F will hold me back. I got the impression that both are great cities, however a few people told me that they hated living in Pittsburgh. Thanks for any insight!

I might be biased here as I go to OHSU and am a native Oregonian but I would say between the two definitely OHSU.

OHSU dental school is brand new as of 2015 and Oregon is a beautiful state. You definitely won't regret going there, and you might never want to leave.

As far as the P/F system I wouldn't worry about it at all. There is a letter of commendation available in each class if you can get a high grade (usually around 93-95% in the class). They use the amount of letters you get to determine class rank. Some people hate it, some people love it.

I wouldn't be deterred by that though, it's a very rigorous school and they teach you well. You shouldn't have any problem specializing if you're up to the task.
