Hey,

I was wondering if anyone has done an away rotation at Pittsburgh, and if so, how their experience was. I am thinking of trying to get one but the cost of applying is a bit high and so I wanted to check that people have had good experiences while there. Also, I would be hoping to get a letter, so I wanted to check that the structure of the away lent itself to that. Thank you!

Yes, but also $43 for the background check

That's $68. Seems like a pretty good investment if it gets you a LOR and leg up at matching at a very strong program. Just don't drink at Starbucks this month.

I didn't do an away at Pitt, but I would say if it's a program you are really interested in then you should go ahead and spend the money. It's a good investment to apply for the programs that you are genuinely interested in and not just at a strong program that you're semi-interested in. Take the time on aways to get to know your attending(s) that you'll work with and just do your best. The faculty will see that and it will reflect in your LOR. Good luck!
