Talk you into Nova?
A couple of things:
With regard to the housing issue, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE go to Plantation early. I assumed that I'd get an apt/condo easily because I was familiar with the area. WRONG. Do as the previous posts suggest. Once you've decided, call Pine Island Realty, look in an apt. book and drive around. Complexes are popping up all around Nova. Sunforest is actually one of the older apt complexes now, and there's usually a few units left in June and July. Sometimes people forget about housing options in nearby Oakland Park and West Davie/Cooper City. With regard to rotations and hotels, the MS-3's tell me that people usually do not end up moving. If you want to travel, that's fine.. Between Broward General Medical Center, Sanford Ziff Health Care Center, Memorial Regional Hospital, Coral Springs Medical Center, Palmetto General, and five million others, there's ample opportunity to stay local.
About convincing you on Nova: Talk to the students. You'll have to talk yourself into the eventual acceptance. One I toured the school and spoke with some students, there was little doubt that I had made the right decision. More than halfway through the first semester, Im absolutely certain. A good place to start is to ask yourself about what you expect from your DO education. If clinical opportunities are a high priority, then Nova is hands down a winnder. If, however, you enjoy the small school atmosphere, than Nova might not appeal to you as much. Remember that you are also interviewing the school and staff during your visit. Be assertive when a med student shows up. Most of us are quite candid and eager to share. Best of luck.....
