I have a BSN, i'm currently completing my MBA and MHA degrees, will be done December 2011, So i just have to take 6 classes for premed.
My Plan-
In my last semester of the MBA program Fall 2011 i want to take General Chem 1
Spring semester 2012 take Chem 2 and Physics 1, start collecting my recommendation letters in January 2012
Start studying for the MCAT start of June
Summer 2012 take Physics 2 and Organic Chem 1 and enroll with Kaplan .
Take the MCAT end of summer August,
Take Organic Chem II in fall of 2012. I plan to apply only to schools in Massachusetts ( family), most of them have October-november dead lines.

I will take the MCAT and send my application while completing my last prerequisite. Would that be a problem for med schools even if i have a very high MCAT score. Of course i'm hoping i get a really high score with Kaplan.
BTW i liked organic Chem in undergrad, so i'm not worried about the course, Physics will be my challenge.
Also I don't have any responsibilities i.e. kids, i just work and go to school ( i do want kids in the future.)
So what do you guys think of this plan, is this doable?

so are you taking organic chem again?

also, i think most people would agree that its not very wise to take the MCAT before you have finished your pre-req's.

i am one of those "most people." it's also concerning that you're lining yourself up to take an august date while you are applying. you better get it right otherwise you're done for the cycle.

you sound pretty confident with kaplan, though, so good luck.

thanks for response everyone. I took organic chem for nursing, that's why i have to take it again.
LOR i plan to get one from all my science professors, some MD faculty at the teaching hospital i work at , and nursing friends. I've already had folks volunteering to write one for me

Well i have 2 things working for me, i have no responsibilities and i make my own work schedule, so i have lots of flexibility as far as studying and working, and i really don't have any excuse not to score high in the MCAT exam.
I'm dedicating the 2012 year to get into med school, that's an entire year just to study, so once again i should should be able to accomplish my goal as planned, and with no constraints. it's not like i'm doing anything else

Also i figure if i score high without taking the last pre-req i can leverage that during the application process, i'm assuming it would be perceived as determination. I'm worried if they may reject the application while i'm in the process of completing my last class.

Finally i do have a very strong desire to become a physician, however i only get one shot at Med school and i want to start at the age of 30, if i miss it then that's it. I'll pursue my healthcare leadership goals without the MD degree.
