So, whenever you finally graduate, what are your plans?

Personally, as of right now (as a P1) i'm planning on working in a retail pharmacy while working a high # of hours/week (i.e 45-60 hrs/week) for a couple of years to get myself situated.

I think most of you have similar plans, whether to pay off student loans, other debts, etc. I won't have much debt whatsoever so i'm planning on living in an apartment, buying a car/entertainment system and then banking a large amount for future endeavours (a house primarily, pension/investments as well). The way I view it is I'll be 22 when I graduate so I can afford working crazy shifts for a year or two to get somewhat of a headstart.

Your thoughts?

I'm most likely going to work retail, mainly because I enjoy it. I'll slowly pay off my student loans. We bought our dream home in 2003. We couldn't afford a pool or granite countertops, so I'll put those in. We both bought new cars in 2005, so we're set there. The rest of the money will go into a retirement fund. I'll be 50 when I start work and have to save money quickly.

Haha, I'm the youngest person in my class but don't forget I'm in Canada, where it takes 5 years, opposed to 6.
🙂

When I first got into pharmacy school I thought I would hate retail and want to become a clinical pharmacist. Now I'm thinking retail pharmacy isn't really that bad. I'll most likely get a retail job considering I'm getting burnt out already with school and am just looking forward to it being over. I'll be 25 when I graduate so one of my main goals is to finally move out of my parents' place into an apartment or maybe a townhome if I can afford it. And I plan on taking the longest time possible paying off my loans. I calculated it to be around $600/month and I figure that will be pretty easy for me to swing. In a few years after I graduate I'd rather have more savings in the bank than have no debt but also no savings. I'm not sure about getting a new car- I think my parents might end up just giving me the car that I drive now as a graduation present.

I'm going to be working in community/retail pharmacy and my plan is to pay off my loans as quick as I can. I'm married and we live comfortably with my husbands salary, so we will continue to do that while using my extra salary to get rid of my loans. I'll be well into my 30's when I graduate, so I will be throwing a lot towards retirement to catch my neglected 401K up for the time while I was in school. (I worked before pharmacy school)

I used to think I'd buy a fancy car right out of school, but we're happy with our cars, so we'll probably do like Dana and spend money fixing up our house instead. It's funny how priorities change over time.

My wife is an RN, and I am a full time student. We just bought a brand new house. Before I graduate both of our vehicles will be paid off. I already drive a benz SUV(which I love!) dont have a need for a new vehicle. So upon graduation, I will work in a clinical setting and work part time in retail. This along with my wife's salary, I will be able to pay off my loans in 1-1.5 years easily 👍 After that I will be able to invest in my uncles construction/realestate company(30+ years running) to help grow my retirement. My mentor is actively seeking his own compounding pharmacy which could also be a potential business venture. I have some other ideas as well, some people use entrepreneur, I like to use term conglomerate!lol 😀
