Please fill in accordingly: how do schools make acceptance offers?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I think I got my rejection from them thru AIM...."your application will no longer be considered. lol."

seriously, does it matter?

if u dont think it matters how htey contact you, then why are you reading this thread? pls guys, stop being so negative when someone asks a question!

Most people don't find out on Dec 1st if they get in or not actually. I know people that got accepted in March. And I know one person that got accepted on Dec. 1st. Most schools only interview less than 1/3 of their applicants by that time, so I doubt they would fill an entire class.

So don't be sad if you don't hear Dec 1st because a lot of my friends didn't find out till like January (about 10 people I know in dental schools right now that didn't find out until a while after Dec 1st.)

Does anyone know if UCSF will call on the 30th of Nov, or on Dec 3rd? Thanks

I just called UNC today...a lady picked up and said UNC will call alll those accepted on Nov 30, FIRST THING IN THE MORNING!!! so good luck everyone that has applied there!! I HOPE (GOD PLEASE!) I get a call...those accepted should get a call around 7-9 am! 🙂 👍

I am getting really reallllly nervous now.......

I'm more curious about U of P, but I was wondering if anyone here was planning on calling the dental schools come Dec 1st/3rd. Is it too forward to call them or should we take the bold step of seeking out possible acceptances?

SHC1984 I know that you were wondering about Columbia too. Do you know if they will call?

I could be wrong about this...but I am pretty sure that when I was at the Columbia interview Dr. M said that they will send out an email to all those accepted, rejected and waitlisted...So I will be checking my email alot for the next couple of days...they might mail something too, but I thought they said EMAIL at the interview...

I might call them tommorrow...I have a private number so they won't know I am the one bugging them...LOL..😉

columbia specifically said they'd MAIL out acceptances the first day they were able to...i'm almost certain its not an email.

by the looks of it we'll have to wait until the 3rd.

unless their policy drastically changed, Dr. M made it very clear when I was there that they will only send out snail mail acceptances, no earlier than Dec 1. if anything, I think that people will start hearing from them the week of the 3rd.

he also said that they couldn't tell us anything until december 1st...which makes me wonder if we can call and ask whether or not we got in...

hmmm...

yes! thanks for passing that on

I was super excited to hear that we no longer have to wait until Monday! Definitely wasn't looking forward to waiting over the weekend, lol.

I tried calling Columbia SEVERAL times today but I keep on getting the answering machine of Diane Lugo...so I am going to try calling tommorrow too...

Anyone able to reach someone at Columbia today? Please let us know what they said.

I also called UPenn today and they said they will mail letters out on Dec 1st, so I guess we won't know until Dec 3rd or 4th etc....this is going to be a LONG WAIT!! :scared:

Thanks alot

SO am I! :scared::scared::scared:
If I get a call I will be sooooo excited...but If I don't it would totally ruin my weekend!! I don't want to be sad all weekend..I really want to get accepted this year! But at least we will know our "future" in less then three days.....

Thanks. Now I'm terrified.

hi SHC,

I am going to Penn this week for an interview and it seems that they are holding both sessions on Thursday and Friday. So I guess we will be considered pre dec1st, and then decisions sent out the next day or so. I guess that is the reasoning behind the mailing out on the 1st.

Congrats on your interview! 🙂
I know the mail comes on Saturday...of course...but I did NOT know there are actually admissions people working at UPenn on Saturday to physically mail out the letters...thats what confused me...I just thought they would have to either mail it out on Nov 30 or Dec 3rd (when the office is OPEN)....but either way I just hate it b/c all of my mail goes to my parent's house and right now l live an hour away from my parents! 🙁🙁🙁
EMAIL IS SOOO MUCH BETTER!! 😀

Did you ask them if you can call on Friday to find out first before letter arrives? If you are that anxious that can make you feel better.

I really am sure that Corky Cacas told us that they would be mailing out letters Nov 30th so that we'd hopefully hear by the 1st or the next week depending on how fast mail is! I am 100 percent sure she said that they will MAIL out the 30th - i guess they changed their minds??

Yeah you are right...UPenn is mailing letters out on Nov 30! I called them again to make sure...there is NO way it could be on Dec 1. Sorry for the confusion.....

Did anyone here try calling columbia? I tried calling again and NO one picked up....I just want to know for CERTAIN if the acceptances are via EMAIL or SNAIL MAIL...????

I think I heard the 30th too for Penn. A friend of mine got in last year and he said he heard from Penn by Dec 1st, so I guess it must be a very fast snail mail or they called people.

I think Columbia said the 30th too, I think they might have said email, not sure.

Life decisions to be made this weekend!!!

Base on what i remember from Columbia interview, they will mail out the letter on Nov. 30. Dr. M also said no phone call because he can't tell who you are over the phone, to let you know the result.

Does anyone know about Alabama - UAB??

Thanks!!

thats diappointing. I hope addsas allows us to view our updates at 12:01. anyone else notice that.

cant find a thread to ask this question so i'll ask it here.

what if they cant get to you by phone? do they keep trying or find alternative ways?

-i live away from home, so my parents arent normally present until the evening.

d schools not contacting you on rejection/acceptance?

-has anyone ever been rejected or accepted but had to find out by contacting the school.

This would be a great thread to fill out for future years, fill in what you know!😀
