Hello everyone, so I finished putting together a school list today, which is shown below. Some details about my app:
  • MCAT: 520
  • cGPA: 3.41
  • sGPA: 3.5
  • Cali resident, reapplicant, non-trad, took me like 7 years to graduate
  • EC hours included at top of image
  • Strong upward trend: did garbage at CC, transferred, graduated magna cum laude at uni
  • No pubs/posters, weak research overall

Some details about the school list:
  • I am also applying to all the Cali schools, which brings the current number to ~21 schools.
  • The schools in color at the top are the ones I'm planning to submit for now, want to add 5-8 more schools
  • The 2nd and 3rd columns show the bottom 10th/25th percentile cGPA and sGPA for each school.
Questions I have:
  1. Are there any schools I should add?
  2. Are there any schools I should remove from the colored list?
  3. Am I aiming too high? My cGPA is ~.1 below the 10th percentile for several of these schools, although my MCAT is in the 90th percentile or higher. However I feel my EC's are also weak. Should I be aiming more for T100 schools?
  4. Are there any specific things I should watch out for for schools on the colored list (eg Rush's high service-oriented requirements)?

Thank you for reading this far, please help your boy out as I really do not want to apply again. Good luck with apps everyone!

Thanks so much for the awesome reply. I noticed you didn't include the schools below that I had on my list, what did you think about them/why did you exclude them?

- Cincinnati (reach but has 97 OOS matriculants)
- Louisville
- Brown (reach? 128 OOS matriculants)
- Dartmouth (reach? 82 OOS mats)
- Rutgers Roberts Wood Johnson

Thanks again.

Cincinnati, Brown and Dartmouth are all reaches with your GPA. Louisville and Rutgers accept few non residents with you GPA and no connection to the state.
