Please help me figure out my school list! (3.98/513)

Hello!

I would really appreciate some help to see if my school list seems well-balanced and doable!
I also prefer staying on the east coast.

I just graduated and am taking a gap year!

Ethnicity: Asian
Country/state of residence: NJ
Cumulative GPA: 3.98
Science GPA: 3.98
MCAT Scores: 513

Research – 3 years in a psych lab and a thesis (around 570 hours)

Volunteering (clinical) – EMT volunteer on campus (500 hours)

Physician shadowing – 250 hours from summer program

Non-clinical volunteering: peer counselor (150 hours)

Extracurricular activities: leadership position for school club (250 hours)

Work experience: teaching assistant for two semesters (250 hours)

Immediate family members in medicine? (y/n): y

if you have time during your gap year, I would recommend volunteering with some underserved populations (doesn't seem like you have any of this). Things like volunteering at a soup kitchen, after school programs for disadvantaged youth, etc will really get you far
That's the plan! I also volunteered a bit with Doctors Without Borders. Thank you for your input!

You should receive several interviews from your list but your lack of clinical volunteering may limit the number. Columbia is a reach. You could add Quinnipiac, Rosalind Franklin and Oakland Beaumont.

Hello! Thank you for your reply!

I was wondering- in addition to my EMT experience, I interned/volunteered as an anesthesiologist technician for the summer after freshman year. I would help prepare operating rooms, assist the anesthesiologist, and then watch the operations. Do you think that would be enough for clinical volunteering?

I also plan on working as a medical scribe in the near future. Thank you again!
