I've applied to 20 schools in July and took my 2nd DAT in Sept (19/20/18). First DAT was: 18/20/14! I graduated from ucla with a biochem major. My overal gpa/sci/non-sci gpa : 3.3/3.1/3.7 . I've been rejected from 10 schools so far and I have not gotten any interviews. I have dental /research/ volunteer experience.

This is my 2nd time applying :scared: and I really don't know what I should do at this point! Do you guys think I should take my DAT for the 3rd time in Jan for this cycle? or should I apply to a master's program and take the DAT later?

Thanks in advance for your advice 🙂

My stats were pretty similar to yours and i was accepted this year so maby i can help. My cum. gpa was about 3.3 and DAT aa/ts/pat=19/21/19 I graduated from UCSD. Instead of doing a masters i took a few classes at the community college to raise my cum. GPA. The main thing i did which i feel made the difference this year was a ton of volunteer work. Over 200 hours spent in clinics and a trip to Mexico doing volunteer work. I also work full time for a bio-tech company and go a letter of rec. from my boss. Your GPA and DAT scores seem good enough to me to get in somewhere. A masters program would definitly help, but i don't think its necessary. I would concentrate on volunteer work get a lab/research job and try to network as best you can.

Do a masters in anatomy, dental schools and med schools respect that alot and you'll have a cake walk first year when you do get in.

You'll get in sooner or later. Dont stress and focus on your positive and strengthen your weaknesses.

Good advice!! You just need to prove to the schools that you can handle the insane course load that is dental school. Do a master's get As, reapply and you should get some bites. Good Luck!!

thank you mooredge, rajan247, and jdoc04 for your replies 🙂
