i took one lower division bio class my sophmore year at a community college. i recently began taking another class there but decided to drop it. however, the admissions and records people messed up and did not drop me from the class and now i have a horrible grade that i didn't earn. what do i do NOW? would i have to report this grade to amcas and/or send in transcript from this communty college? is there a way that i can avoid reporting grades from this school? Please help!

If they messed up, they should take care of it. Be pushy. Very pushy. If you messed up, you maybe SOL. But you GOTTA report all classes. G'luck. --Trek

thanks trek, but what's "SOL"?

Yes, you'd have to report it to AMCAS. The only way is to get rid of the grade. Argue it with the registrar's office if it's indeed their mistake. I did this successfully and got three Fs turned into Ws. Start now, because the process usually takes time: it may have to go through an academic review board, etc.

If that doesn't work, try the school's ombudsman. It's his/her job to settle such disputes.

PS. SOL: $hit out of luck, I think.

thanks katiep!!

**** out of luck= SOL

what effect does a 'W' grade have in terms of science GPA? I have only one and I am kinda worried. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="frown.gif" />

W doesn't count.

If the registrar doesn't listen to you, it would be cool to threaten them with legal action (hey, it's your future and worth the cost). Some people did this with AMCAS and they responded very quickly to fix their error. Just an idea. Have your lawyer give em a call! :p

Be very pushy--it's important to get it fixed, b/c you may not get the chance to explain the problem to med schools.
