Ok so my mcat is 31 R and GPA both sci and cum is 3.49.

My tmdsas app for texas (i am a resident) was turned in early august.
Everyone keeps telling me to apply to lower tier schools out of state... is this a good idea or waste of money...? I only want MD schools, please help!!

Your stats put you within the parameters of most of your state schools, but you're applying later. You have lots of competition with better numbers. It's a risk to apply to so few schools. I did the same thing (being frugal, and even later than you), but understood there'd be a good chance I might need to reapply the next season. I was lucky to win the bet. If you are risk tolerant as well, it's a reasonable choice to make.
