so i took many (about 12) college credit hours worth of classes during high school, and would like to know if i transfer them, will they be included in my GPA. The response says it wont be calculated in Wingate's GPA, and you will be given the credit hours, but the grades will be shown on my transcript. the grades are kind bad (mostly C's). My question is will a pharmacy school re-calculate the grades into my GPA, and is it a bad idea to have them showing even if they are not factored into my GPA. Heres the response i got...

I am sorry that it has taken me so long to get back to you, but I do have an answer for your question. For any student who has transfer credit or dual-enrollment credit, only the credit is transferred. The grades do not factor into Wingate's GPA on the transcript. The only time we factor in the transfer grades is for graduation honors and honor societies. The grades will be listed on the Wingate transcript, but they are not a part of the cumulative GPA. I hope this is helpful to you! Let me know if you need anything else!

bump, even if you have no sure answer tell me what you would assume, i have to sign up for next sem. classes soon! thanks

Your high school grades won't show up on your college transcript.

You're correct, the grades will not show in your GPA for your current university. For pharmacy school application purposes though, they will be factored in. PharmCAS requires that all college coursework that appears on your transcript(s) be reported. Not doing so could hurt your chances of getting accepted into a pharmacy program. For the C grades, you could explain that those were classes you enrolled in while being concurrently in high school, and explain t he grades. Good luck to you!

So I'm assuming you are going to Wingate for undergrad? I also took college courses during high school. My university gave me the credit for them, but they do not count towards my university GPA nor do they appear on my university transcript. When applying to pharm school, you have to send all your transcripts from every college you attended, even if done in high school. All the classes you took in a college will be used to calculate a new cumulative GPA by pharm schools. I think this procedure is how most universites treat any transfer credits, and is basically what that response was telling you. Hope that clears it up!

cant i pick and choose which grades i want to be transfered?, or does Pharmcas want ALL of them, because those dual-enrollment credits are not even related towards pre-pharm and they are about 12 credit hours worth of C's..which would really hurt me

are the min GPA's listed on pharm school websites rated by pharmcas?

No, you can't pick and choose. PharmCas will calculate your overall GPA and your science GPA.

how would they know if i dont transfer the credits?, so pretty much im sol from the get go and should choose another major?

They ask you to put down everything you've taken. They ask every school you've been to. They require transcripts.

Once you acquire a substantial amount of college credits, those 12 hours won't have that much of an impact on your GPA. As long as you do better in the rest of your classes, you should be fine.

..not to try to beat the system but how would pharmcas know if there is no trace of it on my college transcript?

You quoted the Wingate letter as stating "The grades will be listed on the Wingate transcript". When Wingate sends their transcripts to Pharmcas those classes will be listed.

Better to shoot for A's to offset the C's then to get caught not reporting all college credit grades.

but i can still opt to not transfer them (so it wouldent be on the wingate tranny)...wouldent like 4 C's and a D put me in a permanent hole?...

dude..why do you keep posting this kind of stuff? everyone has made it more than clear for you - if you withhold grades it is academic dishonesty which could cost you your spot permanently from any school. you will be damaged goods if a pharmacy school finds out

Do not worry about being put into a permanent hole. The admissions committee understands we all make mistakes. Just prove yourself and get good grades. Show an upward trend. Then, you will be fine. If you continue to get C's, then maybe not.

BTW, supposedly, http://www.studentclearinghouse.org/ keeps track of your transcripts.
