I am doing the 2+2 community college to 4-year plan.

I am majoring in Biology, Chemistry (some Uni offer that as an integrated double-major and some keep them as completely separate paths) and Anthropology, as well as the Honours program courses.

It has come to the point where I really should plan out what courses I will be taking when over the next 2 years, and I find that when I look at the degree plans offered by the Uni, I am completely confused.

It will state something like this for each of the majors:
Upon transferring to ____ University, students should complete the following 54 hours for the degree

- Anthropology coursework (lower-division) 12 credits
- Anthropology coursework (upper-division) 27 credits
-Support Work (6 hours must be at the upperdivision level)
- Free Electives (upper-division level)

Speaking to an advisor was totally unhelpful. First, he tried to talk me out of the majors I had chosen, and then he said that I should take what classes I am most interested in and gave me information for the school's Pre-Med Society.

I'd like to be able to plot out what I will be taking for each semester (with alternate courses in case the initial course is cancelled or removed for some reason.)

Has anyone else done something like this?

Is it possible to complete 3 majors in 4 years? Why do you want to triple major in the first place though? I think double major would be more than enough, like Chem OR Bio WITH Anthro.

If you're asking which classes meet the major requirements, only the advisor or departmental advisor for that major can answer that. On the anthro dept webpage there is probably an outline of sorts that lists the courses that meet either lower-division or upper-division requirements. Often majors have different components that are required like at least one class focusing on cultural anthro, at least one class on linguistic anthro, etc. So you have to take one class in each area. BUT - that really is highly dependent on the school. Ex: http://www.virginia.edu/anthropology/majoreq.html So your best bet again is to see the departmental advisor and/or check out the dept webpage.

Planning too far in advance will be problematic/impossible because schedules and offerings change from year to year and you don't always know what will be available. I would suggest printing off the list of course offerings for the department. Usually it will say offered in Spring and Fall, only Fall, etc. Circle what courses sound interesting. Crosscheck against last year's classes to see if they were offered, check on the new course offerings when they're available, and sign up for the classes you want if they will help you meet the major requirement.

Is this what you were looking for? ---> If you are at UTSA, this is from their website:

Degree Requirements

A. 39 semester credit hours in the major, 27 of which must be at the upper-division level:

1. 12 semester credit hours of required courses:

ANT 2033 Introduction to Physical Anthropology
ANT 2043 Introduction to Archaeology
ANT 2053 Introduction to Cultural Anthropology
ANT 2063 Language, Thought, and Culture

2. 9 upper-division semester credit hours chosen in consultation with the student's advisor:

3 semester credit hours in archaeology
3 semester credit hours in cultural anthropology
3 semester credit hours in physical anthropology

3. 18 additional upper-division semester credit hours of anthropology electives excluding ANT 4913 Independent Study, chosen in consultation with the student's dvisor.

B. 9 semester credit hours of work from another discipline that supports the study of anthropology. The support area must form a cohesive program of study and must be chosen in consultation with the student's faculty advisor after completion of 12 semester credit hours of anthropology. Recommended areas for support work include, but are not limited to, foreign languages, statistics, computer science, earth sciences, environmental sciences, and social sciences. The student should file a statement of intent and the list of courses to be taken in the support area with the undergraduate advisor for Anthropology in the College of Liberal and Fine Arts Advising Center.

C. 30 semester credit hours of electives

Yes, it is. The Bio & Chem majors have a majority of courses in common. Biochemistry as a major is different, and seems to focus on running a lab, and lab machines. Also, in several 4-years that I am looking at (my SO is military and we may move before I transfer, so I'm looking at several options) the Biology and Chemistry majors are offered together like that- where you follow one degree plan and come out with two Bachelors of Science degrees. So I'm seeing them as one and Anthro as another.

Does that make sense?

And yes, that is kind of what I'm looking for... but not. 😀
