podiatric pathology

i know that pods do path rotations as residents, but can a dpm become a pathologist without an MD?

its seems in Virginia you can be a DO, MD or DPM to sit for the exam..is this state wide?

No, at least not in the same way you would define "pathologist" if you were an MD. An MD specializing in pathology has an unlimited scope of pathologic diagnosis (though they may choose to specialize even further, say forensic pathology, etc). Understand you can specialize in many areas once you have a DPM. The term "pathologist" in this context is not equivalent to the medical pathologist who would look at your liver biopsy, etc. A podiatric pathologist is limited to pathologies that affect the foot and ankle. You still have to work within your scope when you're specializing in podiatric anything (pediatrics, sports medicine, dermatology, etc)
