Highly doubt it would impact you in a legal sense, and 99% sure softer stuff wouldn't impact you at all.

I dated an adult actress in college. Mom was a bit upset when she found out. Dad was oddly quiet.

That said I would not advertise it. Soft blowback and all.

He knew she looked familiar.

Well, I am a med student at a top ten med school and we had an incident where the husband (a med school prof) posted a ton of very NSFW pics and vids of his wife (also a med school prof) in a certain Internet forum. Needless to say, these postings migrated all over the internet and his wife (and he) were eventually identified. To date there has been no fallout for either in their respective departments. So, even in cases like this, med schools may decide to overlook such things. Just a counterpoint to the majority of postings here.

An epic bump for an epic thread 😉

The main thread was an interesting issue. It would be fine to hear current situation :help:

Melania Trump did softcore porn and she's the next First Lady of the United States.

Don't let the prude hold you back from achieving your dreams.

She and her husband are also the worst joke in human history.

A total aside, but why are all entertainers involved in the adult industry automatically called "porn stars" instead of "actresses/actors"? I mean just because one is willing to do it doesn't make them a "star" (at least not until they get some notoriety/success/etc. for it)

Hi,

I'm a second year medical student at a wonderful school. However, prior to entering medical school I was involved in the adult film industry. Though it's legal to be in porn in my state, I wonder if I've permanently and irrevocably ruined my chances of ever being licensed after matriculation.

Does anyone know anything about this? Have I forever damaged (or killed) my career?

This is a very sincere and serious question, and I'd appreciate serious answers.

Thank you.

You did nothing illegal (correct)? I'm assuming you are not well-known enough for someone to recognize your face without extensive searching?

If online facial recognition DOES become a popular search tool: get glasses. Or if you have glasses, get contacts.

Don't volunteer the information to anyone associated with medicine.

You'll be fine.

I'm probably gonna get attacked for this but I don't think any normal person makes the choice to do porn or prostitution, usually there is something mentally/emotionally wrong with the person if they can pass their body around for money and not be affected by it.
I'm gonna disagree with you on that one. To some people, sex doesn't have some magical inherent value, it's just like, a thing you do that feels good. If you can get paid to do that, well, why not I guess, if that's your thing. I mean, plenty of people have sex with relative strangers for free and they're not damaged. I would have to err on the side of "most of them probably have past issues or trauma" though, with the emotionally stable and healthy ones being the rarities that just have a personality that is the right fit. Soldiers kind of have the same thing- you've got your guys that come back traumatized, your guys that come back not fully traumatized but with regrets, your guys that "did what they had to do" but don't feel all that awful about it, and your last group of people who just loved the hell out of war because it fit well with their personality.

Professors play by different rules than students. While a past career won't prevent licensure, it may cause you trouble in school itself. As a professor though, well... You'll probs be fine, maybe, depending on the institution.

I remember reading somewhere that a lot of porn actors/actresses came from very strict religious backgrounds.

Did anyone else notice OP said they were a med student but posts in med school application threads about applying as well?
