for one of my jobs the title of the job was "research assistant" but i didn't do any research it was more like just doing surface level research and writing articles about it.
i labeled it as paid employment.

For the position title on acmas, do i write "research assistant" or do i come up with a more accurate name?

If that's the official title of your position, use it. It doesn't look good to make up your own title. The description is there to provide details of your actual responsibilities.

too late rip, already submitted.

i heard dr grey once say that its preferable to make up ur own as long as it is more representative of what you actually did so that's why i rolled with it (ultimately he said it wasn't that important)

I doubt this matters too much. As long as you didn't call yourself the CEO or Research Manager whatever. It's common practice in corporate to come up with a more accurate title name because managers love to come up with stupid fake names like Shipmate for customer service at Trader Joe's.

ya i i get what u mean. upgrading ur position title would be bad, but i downgraded.

the official title of the paid position was research assistant but i didn't do research at all. all i did was read some surface level papers and write pop articles in science journals for the general public and give out some seminars.

i think i called it like community out reach or something

If you had already done this, why are you asking the question now? Looking for confirmation that you made the right call?

Ultimately, this doesn't matter, but while I also would have used your official title it's not like you can do anything about it now, so it's best to not worry about it.

I interviewed someone who had the job title "Drama Queen" for a school activity. Turned out it was the actual title for the person in the dorm responsible for picking a monthly movie and providing treats for fellow students. 😀
