In radiology, if not location specific, could one work a couple weeks, then stop for a month, and find another locum job easily to get started again?

Is it possible to work under 30 hours a week, and still make around/over 200 K?

I am asking out of curiousity, this field is one to work hard in and im not shying away from that aspect. Just wondering if this is a possibility should this be something i'm interested in at some point.

Highly unlikely all around. Demand for locum rads has plummeted over the years, making it difficult to jump job to job, and locums companies tend to prefer stable contractors over ones that are sporadic- you'll essentially be the last to get the job and get the worst offers they have. Part time I can't say much about, except that the groups around here don't tend to have mommy track part-time positions, the part-timers tend to be guys at or near retirement age that have put in their time and are just trying to hang on to their career a bit longer.

Part time has opened up in the past couple years in our locale in a way that wasn't happening in the past, don't know how generalizable the trend is though.

The way I see it, the trend may only continue if everything we hear about retirements to come on the one hand, and the decreasing attractiveness of radiology as a specialty (last year's match didn't fill if I understand and a few programs had to SOAP?).
Anyway, I personally wouldn't be against working less and making less, that is when my debt is payed off. If you can't be happy with 200K you won't be happier with 350-400K working twice as much.

I think a lot of young radiologists would prefer to work less and make less. It's the older people who run the groups who perpetuate the status quo, especially those who still long for the golden age of radiology and the money that came with it.
