Possible to get into medical school if you ask ******ed questions on forums?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Of course. Adcoms are going to read this thread of yours, exclaim "What an imbecilic question!", find out who you you are, track down your application, and reject you after eating up your application fee.

They will track your IP address and then call your ISP to find out where you live. Anyone living at that residence will never get into medical school.

It is my understanding that med school ad coms only give automatic rejections to people who start stupid threads on SDN. But they will cut you some slack for the occasional stupid post, that most of us are guilty of. Sorry for the hanging preposition. So unless you start a stupid thread, I would not worry about it.

I am calling BS.

I had two different adcoms assistants contact me privately asking,

"How did you fill out our secondary when we didn't send you an email invite yet?"

I showed them the SDN 2ndary composite website with all the links to the online secondaries, and they acted genuinely shocked that people were that smart, on forums, and talking about admissions.

One of the women I talked to acted as if this was some big secret that got let out and that she might lose her job.

Those schools? NYU, UNC...so not places that get you know 15 applicants.

I heard medical schools reject you if your posts on SDN are considered uninformed and stupid. Is this true?
Is this thread suppose to be an example of what it is that you're talking about? 😉

Uh, how can someone work so closely with medical school admissions and NOT know about SDN?

People usually forgive stupid questions that have been asked before, like "what are my chances." Even thought there is a thread with that same title at the top of the page.

What people are not so fast to forgive are people who use the word "******ed" like it is no big deal. Chances are some people on this thread have family member(s) who have a mental disability.

I don't really look at is a PC issue. I can joke as much as the next guy. I do, however, have a problem with that word being used in this context for a number of reasons. Aspiring doctors should know better.

uh. that's pretty much the definition of PC

Well..I'm just a hater then. Pardon me for expressing my, and many other's, values.

EDIT: There is, in my opinion, a difference of being PC just because you feel you must be PC about everything, and being passionate about an issue. IMO.

The word ******ed is not PC anyway. I believe the most current terminology is intellectually disabled.

When you get rejected, come back and tell us.
And BlueElmo FTW. 👍

Is my sarcasm meter way off, or are you actually saying you completed and turned in applications for schools that hadn't invited you to apply yet?

elmo, hilarious. the point was to ask a stupid questions about stupid questions which is by definition irony.

Yeah so, I used to say a lot of stupid things when I was younger. These days I've removed a couple words from my vocabulary. '******ed' is one of them.

edit: Put it this way, I used to go out with a girl a long time ago who had a mentally disabled brother. I used to stay ******ed all the time (not about him). Every day, just all the time. I bet it irked her every time I said it. I'm a little embarrassed about it now, when I think about it.

Most people won't flinch at the use of the word ******ed but you have to watch who you say it around. I had a teacher flip out in hs when a classmate said "They're acting like ******s." because she had a son with Downs. Same thing goes with the word gay.

It would be better for a person to not use the words ******ed or gay as derogatory terms, simply because it makes them sound much smarter when they don't use the words.

that was the gayest, most ******ed post I've ever read.

I heard they can contact your ISP from your IP and find out with other sites you've visited:idea::idea::idea:

Then they'll discover that I really am that interested in human anatomy.
